The orc's wrath

By the name of Orc's wrath goes a berserk state induced by drinking the Orc's blood wine, a super-alcoholic drink mostly diffused in the south-east of Phaldorya.

Transmission & Vectors

The orc's wrath is caused by ingestion, voluntary or not, of orc's blood wine. This wine is a rare and expensive drink that can be found in the worst bars of Southaven.

Symptoms

In the earliest stages of orc's wrath the subject will feel pervaded by a pleasant sense of strength, shortly after he will present increased salivation (sialhorrea) associated with twitching of the face's muscles, causing him to resemble the expression of an aggressive orc. At this point, he will be taken by the irrefrenable impulse of attack anyone who will look at him in the wrong way. In a short time after, usually, the subject will get involved in a brawl unable to realize that the sensation of strength is only a mental illusion and he's actually weaker than normal. If the subject assumes the substance in a solitary place, impeeding him from attacking anything, the aggressive paranoia will be replaced by an euphoric state of relaxation and, sometimes, by allucinations.

Treatment

The effects last for about four to six hours, usually the subject recovers spontaneously when he wakes up from the injuries suffered during the brawl.

Prognosis

Guarded, depending on how many and how dangerous are the opponents faced during the effects.

Sequela

Since the subject is not aware of the negative effects of the substance, sometimes may decide to assume again the drink, rarely it will happen more than a few times.

Cultural Reception

In the occidental nations the use and trade of the orc's blood wine is forbidden, in order to prevent social disorders associated with the condition. It can still be found on the black market. Some cultural subgroups consider the condition a blessing, especially Morrigan's berserkers will spontaneously assume the substance in a religious ritual during the annual Celebration of the Shields.
