Faraday Domes
Faraday Domes derive their name from an old Earth technology "Faraday Cages." Those cages were created to block off any cellphone or wireless signal. The Faraday domes share a similar purpose. However, instead of blocking cell phone signals, they block off the vibrational waves that are created from the M-Brane Realm. In the process, cities that operate under Faraday Domes are able to make full use of electromagnetic and radio wave technology that has been rendered useless in most of Phasmatum.
Faraday Domes are powered through solar generators, often with multiple back-up batteries so that there is never a risk of them shutting down. The domes do not cause any damage to humans who pass through. However, many cities and settlements have clear boundaries or even fences on the inner and outer boundary of the domes so that no person can enter or exit without express permission.
Faraday Domes were one of the first major technological advances after the humans landed on Phasmatum, created in 47 AL. The original creators of the Faraday Domes believed that Phasma were a neurological disease that caused mass hallucinations for the inhibitors of the planet. Many Faraday cities have large scientist teams dedicated to eradicating the disease from the planet. Today, leaders in Faraday Dome settlements share this belief with all citizens of their society and it is often taboo--sometimes even downright illegal--to speak about Phasma.
Large Faraday Dome cities are perhaps the only human settlements in Phasmatum that operate outside of the Phasmatum Council and sometime even counter to the The Hope Contract. This is due to the fact that they built their settlements quicker than the Phasmatum Peacekeepers formed and often made military power one of their top priorities.
Larger Faraday Cities are able to communicate with each other through wired communication. And the cities are known to have some of the greatest technological advancements. The problem, of course, is that many of their technologies are rendered useless outside of their city walls. Expect to see a general disdain of Phasma, or even downright fear, from any Faraday citizen you find roaming the world. And don't be surprised if you enter a Faraday city only to find that most of the inhabitants don't even know about the existence of Phasma. They are led to believe that the outside world is poisoned beyond repair.
