Imperials are the generally accepted catch-all term for humanity. Specifically the modern groups of humans that possess the space-flight genes and live in the Human Empire. What truely sets an Imperial apart from modern humanity is the spaceflight genes, a relic of Humanities efforts to thrive in the hostile wasteland of space - the spaceflight genes provide several adaptations to life among the stars
