Empty Depths Settlement

Demographics

Mostly human populus, but other races are not uncommon. Dwarfs and orcs are the most common non-human species due to their inept ability for war and the life of the sword. Warriors who join Sonya's black rose tend to bring their families as well, having a nice place to settle down in between adventures for the guild.

Defences

Probably the best defended settlement in the region, the professional soldiers who call the place home and their families live in violence and war. The village thusly does not have any standing army, instead relying upon the soldiers own initiative in the unlikely event of an attack.

Industry & Trade

While the village's primary export is mercenary work, the lake also serves as an important holy site. Water from the lake is said to have healing properties and if one dares to swim across it from side to side the ailments that one suffers will surely fall into the deep black depths.   Blacksmiths have noticed the huge demand for weapons and armour, and some have set up shop in the village. As a result one can find high quality weapon and armours there, though at a steep price.

Assets

High quality and high priced weapons and armour available for the wealthy adventurer.

History

Once a prosperous and sought after destination for travelers and merchants alike, now it's slowly being rebuilt after decades if not centuries of ruin.

Architecture

Old style longhouses with little to no comfort. Two fires keep the warmth at winter, and the thatched roof needs to be cleared of snow daily or else it may collapse. The only two story building in this village is the great hall of Sonya herself.

Geography

Mountain ridge to the east and south providing fresh cold water for the lake. Lush forest to the north are ample hunting grounds with good amounts of deer, foxes, wolfs, and other animals in them. The lake itself got it's name for its sudden depth, so deep that not even the brightest light can illuminate the bottom.   While it's not recommended to drink from the lake, the rivers leading into it are perfectly safe to drink from.
