Old Man Brickston's Tavern
Old Man Brickston runs this tavern for the last 200 years.
Purpose / Function
To serve weary travellers a good bed and a good pint of ale.
Alterations
Over the years, the masons, who used to be frequent visitors on their patrols around The Vale, saw their outpost destroyed by one of the sinkholes. The previous owner was just about finished with adding a new room to his small tavern, so he rented it out to them. Throughout the years the contract is still in effect. And several additions have been made to the drinking hall.
Architecture
One of the prime examples of dwarven architecture and building style, when not hewing a building from the stone, but building it with wood or masonry, without the support of any pre-existing stone structure. The building still has the the general style of a dwarven building, with lots of the geometric shapes forming the structure of the building. This gives it a 'robust' and oversized feeling. The Mason's extention, as it's name implies is mostly built from stone.
History
The Hole in the Wall, as it was known before Old Man Brickston took ownership of it. Was built underneath one of the arches supporting The Great Road of the Vale. It is a frequent stop for adventurers entering The Mines of Splendor or Kalzomaruk.
The original owners where unwilling to move from their stake, but with the rising work from the new route and weary travellers, they started operating their house as a tavern. Providing a simple meal and a bed for a weary traveller. Eventually with more people coming through, they expanded their bussiness to accomodate more travellers.
