Victor Von Doom is the Supreme Monarch of Latveria, an eastern european country located in the Banat region; Between Serbia and Romania. Doom became the country's new monarch by slaying King Daro Dariola III in 1998. Before going to Latveria, Victor Von Doom had a prolific career as an inventor, engineer, and geneticist; as well as Europe's premiere parahuman expert. He successfully predicted the target locations of several Endbringer attacks, and the mega-dam he built in Helsinki is credited with saving millions of lives during the 1994 Leviathan attack. Dooms rule of Latveria has been wrought with controversy, and is generally regarded as something of a mixed bag. His adoption of Martial Law - enforced by his Doom-bots - enraged human rights activists all over the world, but it has also resulted in Latveria having the lowest crime rate in the known world. Latverian citizens have never lived longer or been healthier; and the hunger that plagued the country twenty years ago has been eliminated. Yet Doom maintains this order with a culture of fear; his Doom-bots silently apprehending anyone who dares speak against him.Tinker Abilities.
Victor Von Doom specializes in recreating the technological equivalent of legendary artifacts from mythology - including their magical abilities. Dooms most famous inventions are "Doom-bots"; which can function autonomously or be controled via neural-link. The extent of their abilities are unknown, but they generally conceal a cache of hidden weaponry. Their design and aesthetic are modeled after the statue army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Like the Emperor that inspired them, Dooms distrustful nature of his subjects compelled him to construct his own kingsguard instead of relying on his subjects. Doom sports a suit of battle-armor of his own design. The armor houses a trove of miniaturized technology, particularly hidden weapons. The design is based on the Green Armor of Arthurian Legend and the Babr-e Bayan of Rotham. The armor includes power-gauntlets that absorb and convert various forms of ambient energy. The energy can be used to enhance the users strength or projected as beams of concussive force. They are based on the Járngreipr, a pair of magical iron gauntlets worn by the Norse God of Thunder. The boots in Dooms armor originally housed miniaturized jet engines, but in recent years has been upgraded to anti-gravity technology. Like the Boots of Hermes after which they were designed, they imbue flight. Doom's helmet is modeled after the Helm of Terror, which was stolen from Fafnir's lair by the hero Sigurd. The helmet grants Doom access to various forms of detection and sight enhancing technology, such as infra-red vision and enhanced targeting systems.Rumored Abilities
In addition to his Tinker powers, Doom has a secondary set of powers includes abilities from Blaster, Master, Hexer, and Stranger classes. He is said to have acquired these abilities when he had a second trigger event during his takeover of Latveria. There is some debate as to the nature of Dooms second set of powers. Some experts assert that Dooms tinker ability to emulate the powers of mythological artifacts allows him to call upon and manipulate what can only be described as "the black arts" that power his inventions. Others claim that Dooms grasp of physics is so advanced that he has discovered an entirely new set of natural laws - beyond the intellectual grasp of all but Doom - which he can manipulate to produce a variety of effects. Proponents of this theory assert that the effects produced by Dooms secondary powers are no more supernatural than using a magnifying glass to start a fire Whatever the case may be, Doom is said to possess a secondary set of powers that do not rely on technology. According to refugee Latverians who escaped his rule; Doom is capable of feats such as hypnotism, astral projection, controlling the weather, and mind transference - without using any of his artifacts. * Note - it is speculated that these were simply the raving of brainwashed subjects, not unlike how many North Koreans believe that Emperor Kim Jong Un is immortal.
