Accel News Radio Update: Supernatural, and the Occult

According to Team Accel, there are three types of supernatural humans that currently exist within Thenia. While specific powers within these types can vary wildly, they generally fall into similar archetypes, hence their categorization. In order to aid civilians and ensure everyone stays knowledgeable about the threats that lurk in the shadows, the following information is available to anyone on public Team Accel bulletin boards. Remember: knowing is half the Poke-battle!

Mystics

Rarity: Approximately 1 in 1000
Threat Level: Low

Perhaps one of the most common types of supernaturals, Mystics have powers that are much more subtle and subdued compared to others. They may go their entire lives without realizing they possess abilities outside what's normal for humans. While their powers tend to manifest in wildly different ways, they share one trait in common: a deep connection to Pokemon. Some are able to communicate with Pokemon directly, sharing thoughts and emotions with them through a deep empathetic link. There were similar powers in the past as well, such as humans that could possess Pokemon and take control of their bodies, but their presence was culled and has yet to re-emerge.

Some believe that mystics have more than just a connection to Pokemon, but a connection to "spirits" that exist all around us. While this theory is unfounded, it would help to explain the presence of Oracles, mystics that can see potential future outcomes and divine past events. More research on this class of supernatural will come in the future.

Aura

Rarity: Approximately 1 in 3000
Threat Level: Medium

There is an energy that surrounds all life, both humans and Pokemon, that radiates from their souls and shows them for their true colors. This energy is known as Aura. Though it may be vibrant, very few people ever get the chance to see it. Those few practitioners that exist today have a rich history of monks, shamans, and warriors. In the present day they are known as Aura Guardians. Ancient texts state that only those of a pure heart and soul can unlock the secrets of Aura, but experts within Team Accel do not believe this claim.

The common use of Aura is the ability to read another person's, allowing the user to see their nature and current intent. They can also project thoughts on others, much like a psychic, but only if the recipient is willing to listen. It is believed they are able to communicate with both humans and Pokemon, and certain figures in history would back this claim. Finally, Aura Guardians can manifest their powers as dangerous attacks. Aura Sphere in particular is a very overt Aura technique, but many others like it exist. While caution is advised around practitioners, they are not as grave a threat as Psionics.

Psionics

Rarity: Approximately 1 in 2000
Threat Level: High

Psionics are a dangerous breed of supernatural humans that can alter the laws of reality as they see fit. It was a boom in psychic attacks that resulted in the founding of the Team Accel three months ago. Since then they have remained vigilant, seeking out peaceful psychics to train them while detaining those unfit or dangerous to society. Make no mistake civilian: an unregistered psychic is dangerous, and more importantly they are hard to notice.
Psychic power takes on many forms, but the three most common are Telepaths, Telekinetics, and Warpers. Most Psionics are only capable of one type of power, but some are capable of two or even three. Telepaths in particular are cause for concern. They have the ability to forcibly read someone's thoughts, and in some cases can plant their own into another's mind to force them to do their bidding. Mental attacks also exist in their repertoire. Telekinetics are able to exert force on outside objects with their mind, either to move them or attack them. Warpers are perhaps the least obvious of all, but also the most mischievous. They can teleport much like an Abra, manipulate luck and odds, and create odd effects in the area around them.
