Allegro (uh-LEG-roh, /əˈlɛɡroʊ/)

"Welcome to Allegro, the last true bastion of humanity."
— Team Accel Grunt
Allegro is a large coastal city located in southeast Thenia. It is one of the region's largest cities, and serves as it's largest port. Allegro appears to have been relatively undamaged past the Blinding. It has fallen under Team Accel's control.   In the aftermath of Necrozma's attack on the region, Allegro's landscape underwent significant changes that reflect the city's resilience and adaptation to the new reality. The devastation caused by the attack led to the transformation of Allegro's urban and natural areas, creating a unique blend of survival, creativity, and connection with nature.

Demographics

Citizens: The citizens of Allegro are a resilient mix of people who have witnessed the city's transformation over generations. They include artists, musicians, artisans, merchants, educators, and laborers who have called Allegro home for years. Citizens range from the elderly who remember Allegro's past to the young who are determined to shape its future.   Pokémon Partners: Pokémon are an integral part of Allegro's society, forming deep bonds with their human counterparts. They play roles as companions, helpers, entertainers, and even symbols of resistance. The presence of Pokémon adds a layer of connectivity between humans and the natural world, emphasizing Allegro's harmony with nature.   Displaced Communities: The Blinding Crisis forced residents from surrounding areas to seek refuge in Allegro. These displaced communities often have unique perspectives and skills to offer, adding to the city's cultural diversity. Some may have experienced the worst of the Blinding, while others may have sought Allegro's relative safety after losing their homes.   Transient Population: Due to the city's strategic coastal location and the ongoing conflict, Allegro also sees a transient population of travelers, traders, and adventurers passing through. They contribute to the city's economy and information flow, while also bringing their own perspectives and stories to the mix.

Government

At the top rungs of society lies Team Accel, controlling the narrative. Every aspect of life in Allegro, from its recovering trade industry to the people who visit, is privy to the extensive network that the group has in place. The group also levies a protection tax against its citizens, taking regular tribute in exchange for the safety and security of Allegro's citizens.

Defences

Under the pretense of protection and security, Team Accel has managed to manipulate the local community of Allegro into funding and supporting their operations. They use a combination of fear, propaganda, and strategic resource allocation to maintain their control over the city while presenting themselves as benevolent protectors.   Fear and Manipulation: Team Accel exploits the lingering trauma of the Blinding Crisis to create an atmosphere of vulnerability and uncertainty. They subtly emphasize their control over the city's infrastructure, broadcasting messages about their ability to provide stability in a world still reeling from cosmic upheaval. Citizens, haunted by memories of the devastation, become susceptible to Team Accel's narrative of security and order.   Controlled Resource Distribution: Team Accel controls critical resources such as food, medicine, and shelter materials. They distribute these resources selectively, favoring areas of the city that comply with their rule. This resource distribution creates a dependency on Team Accel among citizens who fear scarcity and are willing to cooperate in exchange for basic necessities.   Shady Protection Fees: Under the guise of protecting Allegro, Team Accel imposes "protection fees" on businesses, markets, and citizens. These fees are portrayed as contributions to ensure safety and continued rebuilding efforts. Those who resist or fail to pay are often subjected to harassment, damage to property, or even detention, reinforcing the perception that Team Accel's protection is indispensable.   Allegro Force: A sizeable deployment of Team Accel grunts regularly visit and patrol the city limits to deal with any threats inside or outside the city. The group is usually led by a captain, though control is ceded to the Boss or his Deputies whenever they visit.

Industry & Trade

The once bustling cafes and shops have been replaced by small peddling shops and makeshift stalls. The locals have come together to showcase their artisan crafts, trading goods, and locally sourced items. The district retains its artistic charm, with hand-painted signs and colorful banners hanging between the buildings.

Infrastructure

Coastal Routes: Allegro's coastline still serves as a vital transportation route, albeit with increased security. Team Accel has established checkpoints and observation posts along the coastal roads to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic.   Modified Lighthouses: The historic lighthouses in Resonance Port have been repurposed as communication hubs for Team Accel. They transmit the organization's messages and orders across the region while also monitoring communications for signs of rebellion.   Residential Enclaves: Allegro's residential areas now include both normal housing and hastily constructed temporary shelters to accommodate citizens displaced by the Blinding. These enclaves often blend into the existing cityscape, with hidden pockets for resistance activities.   Altered Villas: In Crescendo Heights, some of the grand villas have been repurposed as headquarters for Team Accel, while others have become living quarters for their loyal supporters.

Districts

Allegro's Coastal Harmony District remains a picturesque waterfront area, seemingly untouched by the devastation of the Blinding. However, a closer look reveals subtle shifts in the city's dynamics. Team Accel's influence has resulted in a centralized control of the district's peddling shops and stalls, focusing on the trade of rare items and Pokémon-related goods. Despite the illusion of normalcy, a sense of controlled tension lingers in the air.   Crescendo Heights, a symbol of Allegro's spirit, now echoes with a sense of conformity. Team Accel's hold on the city is evident here, as some of the once communal spaces have been repurposed into gathering points for their members. The Grand Amphitheater, once a beacon of unity, now serves as a platform for Team Accel's propaganda and public announcements, casting a shadow over the city's history.   The Tranquil Arboretum's natural beauty is under Team Accel's watchful gaze. The park's community gardens and healing spaces have been adapted to support the organization's objectives, emphasizing resource cultivation and controlled information sharing. The makeshift shelters now bear Team Accel's insignia, serving as a reminder of their presence and control.

Assets

Market Bazaar: The Market Bazaar, once a thriving marketplace with diverse vendors, has been transformed under Team Accel's control. While it retains a semblance of commerce, many shops now sell Team Accel-approved goods and supplies. Valuable items, particularly those related to technology and communication, have been seized or closely monitored by the organization. While many vendors establish tables outside, the Central Market (a repurposed Poké Shop) hosts an array of VIP merchants selling rare goods, ranging from salvaged tech to ancient relics.   Hidden Workshops: Disguised within seemingly ordinary buildings, hidden workshops house rebel artisans, mechanics, and tech experts. Here, they create essential equipment and modify technology while remaining invisible to Team Accel's surveillance.   Covert Medicine Centers: Medical professionals among the rebels have set up covert clinics to treat injured or sick citizens without Team Accel's interference. These centers stockpile medical supplies, including rare herbs and Pokémon medicines.

Guilds and Factions

History

In ancient times, Allegro's location was chosen by its people due to its breathtaking coastal beauty and fertile lands. The city gradually developed into a hub of culture, art, and trade, becoming known for its vibrant festivals, harmonious coexistence with Pokémon, and its rich musical heritage. As Thenia evolved, Allegro remained a bastion of humanity's resilience and creativity. Its artistic and cultural significance grew, and the city was often considered a symbol of hope and unity. The inhabitants worked together to create a city that celebrated both nature and human achievement.   When Hisuian explorers first happened upon Thenia, it was Allegro where they landed. Initially, language barriers and mistrust by the Thenians led to early conflicts, but these were eventually resolved by a resplendent hero who traveled the land. With the conflicts resolved, the Hisuian group operated with full cooperation to their Thenian hosts. The city itself became a cultural melting pot, combining Thenian and Hisuian customs and architecture as the group integrated themselves with the Thenians.

Points of interest

Crescendo Museum: A cultural institution dedicated to preserving Allegro's history and artistic heritage. It houses exhibits showcasing the city's past, from its founding to the Blinding Crisis, and serves as a reminder of what the citizens would fight to reclaim.   Harmony Plaza: A central square where citizens gather to celebrate, protest, and interact. It features a grand statue commemorating Allegro's history as well as areas for public speeches and performances. It serves as a symbolic space for the city's former theme of unity.   Mourning Grove: The city's southern cemetery is one of the only locales of Allegro that remains unchanged, owing to the superstitious nature of Team Accel's leader. Care for the cemetery remains in the hands of the property owners and a displaced mortician.
