Bane

Bane is the god of tyranny, control, and ambition. He is also known as the Black Hand or the Lord of Darkness. His avatar often appears as a hulking individual with greenish-grey skin and short black horns, clad in a black right gauntlet.

Although Bane is ostensibly an evil deity, there may be many reasons for the everyday person to worship him. A merchant may give an offering to the Black Hand that a lucrative business deal succeeds; a military commander may pray to Bane for control over the battlefield; a slaveholder may wish that the Lord of Darkness grant them obedience from those they have enslaved. 

Once upon a time, Bane was a mortal adventure, who was part of a group called the Dark Three. His ascendancy to godhood is told in the old tale Jergal and the Knucklebones.
