Church of the Unbroken Wheel
The Church of the Unbroken Wheel was created in the year 250 HE by a figure called The Shining Prophet. They laid claim to Serpentine, The City of a Thousand Roads as their seat of power and the capital of the new Imperium Deus.
In Serpentine, the Church of the Unbroken Wheel holds the ultimate authority. They are the agents of the Imperium Dues, enforcing the will of the God-Emperor's theocratic rule. Its three primary tenets are to justice, order, and temperance in all things. Practicing arcane magic and reprehensible behavior in the eyes of the Church are punished by its Inquisitors.
The Church is based out of Blazing Cross, the central-most district of Serpentine. Its presence is also felt in Garden Heights, the Bell Tower Ward, Iron Fort, Foggy Row, and Silver Street.
It's separated into three different branches, the Devotional, the Apostolate, and the Inquisition. The ostensible leader and figure head of the Church of the Unbroken Wheel is the God-Emperor, the reincarnation of the Shining Prophet. The real power of leadership of the Church lays with the Potentate and their Council of Cardinals, made up of twelve Cardinals, four from each of the three branches of the Church.
The Devotional deals with everyday worship and works of the Church and embody Temperance. Below the Cardinals of the Devotional are the Archdeacons and Archdeaconesses. Underneath them are Deacons and Deaconesses, typically referred to by their title of Mother and Father, respectively. Serving under them are Priestesses and Priests of the Church.
The Apostolate are the administrative body of the Church. They embody Order and establish the rule of law that governs the Imperium Deus. Cardinals of the Apostolate are the highest ranking members of this arm, with the Archbishops serving below them. Below the Archbishops are the Bishops and under them are the Abbots and Abbesses of the Church.
Lastly, is the Inquisition, the military arm of the Church of the Unbroken Wheel. They are the embodiment of the Justice of the God-Emperor. Underneath the Cardinals of the Inquisition are Justiciars, high-ranking Inquisitors. Below the Justiciars are Praetors, powerful field leaders of the Inquisition. The most common members of the Inquisition, the boots on the ground, is the Inquisitor. With the Holy Authority granted to them by the Church, they investigate for witchcraft and immoral behavior, bring charges against the individuals in question, and arrest them.
After an Acolyte goes through their basic education in the Church, they are given the choice which of the three branches they wish to enter.
