Sundial

The sundial is allowed technology.
Simple sundials such as one created by simply placing a stick in the ground are allowed, but magic sundials are preferred. These sundials continue to work even in the shade and on cloudy days, with a darker shadow still being formed on the surface. These sundials even work after the sun has gone down, although the shadows are often more difficult to see after dark.
Purely physical sundials initially weren't allowed after the Guines Edict, but it was determined that people continued to be able to approximate time by the position of the sun and that fining or jailing people for this would be difficult and expensive, and cause unrest among the populace. As such, the exemption for sundials was added in Mid-Summer 410.
