Priaton University for Mages

The Priaton University for Mages is a educational building reserved for the aether-gifted to learn magic. Founded even before The Mages' Accord, it has given guidance to mages and wizards alike in its decorated history.
As the title suggests, Priaton University is located in the town of Priaton. Built in the centre, the tall spires and eccentric pupils are a common feature in everyday life for its denizens.
Responsibility and ownership of the building was passed onto The Institute of Wizards soon after they were founded.

Purpose / Function

Its' original purpose was to educate students in various trades, which happened to include magic. Living in a magiocracy, a great important was placed on arcane education but they maintained and encouraged studies of aether-ignorant students. As the only university in Priaton at the time, this was vitally important to note. 
When mages were required to legislate themselves else face persecution, The Institute of Wizards raised funds to buy the university. In 232, the wizards bought it and proceeded to make renovations. Ever since, only potential apprentices can apply. As a result, a separate school was built.

Tourism

A main hall, dining area and gardens has been open to the public ever since its construction. Though The Institute of Wizards is more secretive than the former owners, these locations remain tourist spaces. In fact, the university has made use of the extra source of income by expanding the kitchens and converting one of the older rooms into a shop for confectionery and souvenirs.
These facilities aren't open all year round. The Arcane Chancellor has kept up tradition here and only allowed open days in Groving (August), when examinations have ended. Students can work as temporary staff for these occasions and earn some money. Senior apprentices are allowed to sell evaluated wares in the shop. When the weather is particularly warm, the students and faculty host a market in the university gardens. These are usually free admission for children.
For the return of Argrossa, students are tasked with making fireworks and helping the university host a fireworks display. These are held on Rotham Hill, a vital place for widespread town gatherings. From here, they have the best view of the stars and the night sky, perfect for their whistling cannons to colour the air with aether.
