Letherdon

Third Death (a.k.a. First Lich, True Lich, Elder Lich)

Letherdon, the orginal lich. Said to have invented the ritual of the Lich. Still an undead emperor to this day he watches Potestatem from his tower in The Belt. He has made many attempts at controlling all of the worlds and is yet to be truly put down. He rose to power at somepoint during the first era.   Letherdons Tower

Physical Description

Body Features

Letherdons body has long since withered away. Scraps of flesh, bone, and other parts of their body seem to cling to the nerotic energy that feeds Letherdons unlife. Letherdon appears to have the lifeless skin from the nose up. From the nose to chin chunks of skin and muscle flap about in breezes and reveal the skeleton underneath. Within their eyes a purple and green orb float within utter hollow darkness.   Letherdons lower body on some accounts of those who have seen it during combat state that it was skeletal with many metal and wooden parts crafted around, through, and to replace many bones. While many of these store magic items Letherdon draws on often, adventurers state they seem mostly artistic in value. Some scholars have spent many long years trying to figure why the emtionless archlich would do such a thing and if it has practical value.   Overall many account that Letherdon appears short compared to most humans, the assumed orginal race of Letherdon, and somewhat blocky in frame shape.

Apparel & Accessories

Letherdon often wears a huge suit of armor that is somewhat dwarvish in shape. Bulky and wide around Letherdons somewhat short frame. The armor itself is a shifting mass of semi-liquid ooze that gives the archlich the appearance of a dark angel with wings at times. The liquid is rumored to be a theoretical fluid called a ferrofluid that is magnetic and in nature.   When the ferrofluid is stretched thin it reveals a thin set of stone armor underneath that floats around the lich in small orbits. Like a puzzle the stone appears to be a shattered statue with runes carved into them that move about to control the fluid in many ways simultinously. The armor is thought to be autonomys of the lichs, but telepathically linked.   Below both of these layers Letherdon wears a white robe that is stained with fresh red blood at most time. The only reason we know it to be white is from adventuring parties that witness Letherdon staining it in fresh blood. This is thought to be a step in Letherdon refreshing their nerotic energies to keep their lichdom powered. Letherdon has refered to this as powering their aniasumat or translated to Soul Consumer.   Letherdon has many accessories tied into their very skeletan as well. Almost all of their ribs have been sharpend and replaced with various Dragon fangs. Their upper eight ribs are metallics Dragon fangs, Their middle eight ribs are Crystal Dragon fangs, and their lower eight ribs are Chromatic Dragon fangs. They seems to have a special intrest in draconic creatures and often captures or kills them.   Many hoop metals are hung through Letherdons arm bones and jingle quietly as they cast spells somatically. Lastly Letherdon has many different pads on the bottom of their skeletal feet made from the skins, hides, scales, and so on of their favorite kills. So they can "tread above death." A favored saying of theirs.

Specialized Equipment

Letherdons has innumerable magic items. Most of which they have crafted themself. The most notable of this is their tomb of dark magics. The tomb is known by many names and is said to house the most vile, powerful, and taboo spells known to Potestatem. Within the book is even the secerets of Lichdom that so many strive for.   The second most notable item is Letherdons armor. The oozing and rune stone object has been the bane of hundreds of blades and hammers for many era's. The three capabilities of the armor are as follows. First, the ferrofluid black slime on the outside is able to amass and harden under strikes it can sense. So while an opening may exsist for a dagger one second, it doesn't the next. Secondly the armor is capable of attacking separate from its master. When put against a legendary blade, it met it equally. Favoring sudden spear like thrusts, the ferro fluid will quickly form a dome and of liquid and then fire out a long thin spike towards an attacker that has been noted to scrape adamantine. Lastly the armor can levitate even in Zeal free area's. While most of the other function can not work without Zeal, the levitation does. This has baffeled artificers for lifetimes.   Letherdon was once asked by a lich if they would rather part with their armor or their tomb. Letherdon responded with, "Does the dwarf desire his forge or his product more?" Letherdon promptly annhilaited the lichs physical form.   Letherdon also houses many items that allow them to bypass components for spells, as well as control Zeal itself to a degree around them. This is shown in Letherdons simple presence making spell craft a laborous task. Mid to low level Zeal users report not being able to use any of their magic at all in Letherdons presence. Letherdon has been known to cast spells without speaking or moving quite often for unknown reasons. Scholars attribute this to Letherdons divine grasp of the nature of magic and how to wield it.

Personal history

Letherdon is thought to be the first archmage to discover the process of obtaining lichdom. The process is so complex and advanced that many arch mages begrudingly admit the man is on par with Korvas the Kind.   Letherdon is thought to in fact be the first God of the Temple and Wizardry which is now occupied by Zenith. After being cast out of the role during the first era, Letherdon used their divine knowledge from occupying the role to create the lichdom so that they could plot to take back their role in the Temple. Zenith has since thrwarted every attempt and even cemented it by adding the Spirits of magic role to their roster.   Letherdon has used many other ways to weaken Zeniths role. Some of these targets include Potestatem itself, followers, and their avatars throughout known history.

Sexuality

Innumerable bards and other charismatic powers have attempted to woo the all power lich. Those who have spoken on the occasion say the lich like most undead feels no such emotions.
