Personal history
Mane grew up in the Desert of Giants. They were born to a litter of lion humanoids who were large and strong. Mane was small and pathetic. Due to this Mane's sibilings had them do their laundry, braid their long manes, and sharpen their weapons.
In the Desert of Giants the small squabbles between kingdoms often destroy many villages. The Giants hurl huge stones, and swing massive weapons that destroy nearby area's. So Mane's sibilings trained to battle for the fire giant Flazborg that ran their region.
There came a time when the Persian empire sweeped over the region. Flazborg did not bend the knee to the Gnome's new empire. So they attacked. Mane's sibilings were slaughtered agains the impossibly stronger persians.
Mane survived while washing their tunics. So when the gnomes came upon the small lion they took them prisoner and hauled them off to a life of slavery. Mane was brought west across the sea of poison fire to work under a aspiring necromancer in Ydnac Lond. There man uncovered bodies to become more workers in deep mass graves from battles long forgotten.
Then the destroyer was released. The empire was wiped out in the east and the destroyed was coming towards Ydnac. So the necromancer enlisted all their slaves to battle the beast. Mane was one. During the battle Mane was deformed by destroyers breath and suffered seizures after the necromancers defeat. Mane somehow ended up heading west on an airship and landed in the green water islands of the Hazfen.
There a compassionate man named Somp tried an experimental ritual on Mane. Mane remebered hearing, "Your life is like death, this ritual may be like death as well. Don't thank me little Cub, I do not know if this will save you. If it does, you can save me, or leave."
Mane was brought to a massive construction site where a huge hourglass glowed over the islands. There Mane was placed inside a dark endless chamber below the hourglass's base and the hourglass turned its huge body. Mane was assaulted by barely contained magics and they screamed.
Mane awoke a few days later. Mane felt nothing. For the first time Mane felt nothing. No weakness, no burning nerves, their body worked. It worked very well.
Mane had become the first Burgeond. Mane decided to thank Somp. Despite Somp attesting the ritual could have killed them, Mane pledged their life to Somp. So when the destroyer came, Mane stood in its path, to protect Somp and his creations of magic.
Mane died a few weeks after the battle after succumbing to destroyers breath poisning. Somp wept. After six years of research Somp finally confirmed those killed by Destroyers Breath cannot be ressurected.
