Nodes of Power
There are as many nodes as there are regions in Potestatem. These nodes are direct conduits of arcane power, known as Zeal linked to The Temple. Nodes often take on the character in the land which they are in - a node in the artic might be made of ice while a node in a swamp may grow on sickly vines. Many nodes only grant localized arcane power or come with great costs, making those few which truly grant access to the arcane invaluable. Individuals such as nobles, adventurers and arcanists all seek nodes out to gain their power.
The Northern Continent has two nodes: Shordylin (Shor-Die-Lin) and Furor (Fu-Roar).
Shordylin, more broadly known as "Black Ice," is a node which manifests in much of the cold artic regions of the continent. Known for extreme volatility, consuming Ice has as much likelihood of killing the individual as it does bestowing divinity. As such, it was a relatively ignored node until recent cycles; when it was discovered by Artificers of the Dawn Empire that the substance can be used to power their machines - without exploding. Furor, the other node, is localized to the Stalword Forest. This airborne node has an unprecedented density, known to raise humble adventurers up to great heroes - bestowing great power in a few short days. This node is accessed by arena combat in the Blood Gods domain - but once an individual has tasted the nodes power, their entire personality will warp around a life defining obsession with arena combat.
The Southern Continent possesses the vast majority of unique nodes:
Ydnac Lond has a node known as access
A node localized to the desert regios of Hazfen is known as Duabis stone. These physical rocks often fall from The Belt and can be absorbed by anyone. Continued adventuring and a pilgramage to an unknown location can cause the stone to fuse with the body.
A node localized to the Snaleshi Swamps is known as Darastrix (Da-Ra-Strix) Fruit. The fruit is grown by the trees in and around the city of Snalesh. The fruit green and is the size of a watermelon with a clear plastic like sack. It is prized for it's arcane regenerative properties.
The Region of Wisconia has a living node. Known as The Mayor, it is said the creature directly chooses who to give Sliver's of Divinity
