St Lucia

Saint Lucia Cornellia Rossii

St Lucia is a saint in the canon of the Goose God. She had a divine revelation after being attacked by bandits on the road between Aserium and Aquius and became a prominent preacher for the reformed Goose Church after the martyrdom of the Gooseling. She is revered today as the Patron saint of travellers and flowers.   St Lucia was a travelling herbalist who lived in contemporary Altruscia. She would travel from town to town offering healing and potions. She lived in the late 1700s of the Second Age, after the Goosling came to Prima Terra. On the road between Aserium and Aquinus she was attacked by bandits. They left her for dead in a bed of lavender. As she lay bleeding out, the legend states an aspect of the divine goosling appeared before her and healed her wounds. Following this revelation, she continued to travel but as a preacher and a healer. She would guide travellers and protect them from bandits and other roadside dangers.   On one occasion where she was escorting an elderly woman to her home village, a cruel dragon sent by the hells came to torment her. Lucia simply plucked some flowers and formed a circle and sat inside it for 14 days, neither her nor her escort requiring any food nor drink and the Dragon unable to harm them. Annoyed, the dragon tried to rile Lucia but was met with indifference. At the end of the fortnight, Lucia stepped out of the circle and cast the creature down with one blow from a rose.   Lucia eventually died at the hands of a demon inflicting a town. She laid her life down and ascended into the heavens. St Lucia is still known to be active in the material plane. Stories say she appears as either a young girl or an old lady and will test the travellers characters as they go, exposing them to tests before offering them a reward. It is also said her wayshrines will appear randomly at roadsides, and if a traveller offers her a gift she will bestow a gift upon them.
