Durhambia
Durhambia is a large empire located along the western coast of Olox. Durhambia is both the most populous and most technologically advanced nation on the continent of Olox, boasting an extensive railway network and the largest fleet of airships in the Prime Material Plane. The nation fosters research and innovation of all kinds within its own borders, offering significant tax breaks and sometimes even research grants to those making significant advances in their respective fields. Most of this research is currently focused on Ley Lines, previously undetectable streams of magical energy that have proven useful in the construction of magic items and equipment.
Despite the current industrial revolution, Durhambia is undergoing a revolt. A few territories to the northwest, collectively termed Phaererant have rebelled due to a religious dispute in the royal family. Settlements near the front are facing significant hardship. Every day trains arrive in these regions to deliver much-needed supplies and carry away the refugees. Even with most of the humanitarian efforts focused on their own settlements, however, Durhambia still finds the time to send some occasional aid to the neighboring nation of Esma, which is currently combating the Moon Plague.
Geography
Durhambia itself is huge, featuring a vast diversity of terrain. , but most populated settlements exist along the coastlines and borders. The interior regions of Durhambia contain much untamed wilderness, including a wide variety of murky swamps to the northwest, foggy hillsides in the south, and most infamously of all The Mirrored Savanna along the eastern border.
The nation of Durhambia also has many land borders. To their east lies the proud (if troubled) nation of Esma, while Keridland lies to the south. In between these two neighbors lies the small but fiercely independent nation of Orton. To the northwest, three scattered landmasses collectively dubbed the kingdom Phaererant are currently attempting to rebel against Durhambia proper.
