Shippo

In a clearing, in a Feywild forest, sits a small village of Kitsune. There is no path to the village, but a stream that snakes through the center of the village. The opening of the trees, on the eastern side of the stream, is the town center. The homes here are closer together with gravel roads big enough for a cart; maybe two. 
Keep going east, into the treeline, the village extends upward in sections of wooden platforms, bridges, and walkways secured into the trunks of the trees. This part of the village is easily accessible with a spiraling staircase down the thickest trunk on the treeline.
Across a red, zen bridge to the western side of the stream, the houses become more scattered. Farm plots of rice, vegetables, and fruit are cultivated here. The only major building on this side of the bridge is the rice mill on the edge of the stream, where the water pushes the water wheel and allows the mill to remove the rice's hull and make some into sake.

The village itself is run by - what the Kitsune call - Elders. These Elders are the few that have achieved 8 or 9 tails. 9 being the more rare of the two.
