The Noseless

The Noseless are one of the most infamous gangs of LBN, feared as much for the dreadful stench that heralds their presence as for their acts of gratuitous mutilation. Despite being relatively disorganised The Noseless have established themselves as a potent force within The Taint and are synonymous with its identity across the LBN.
The Noseless earn their name from their grisly initiation rite in which initiates must cut off their own noses in the presence of gang elders, with status awarded to the most impressive displays of unflinching dedication. Lower ranks are charged with the least favoured chores considered to further desensitise the initiate, such as tunnel clearance and sifting through the mounds of filth around the waste tubes for nuggets of latrine cleanser to manufacture into Sniff.
More effective members are tasked with the daily routines of front line violence against FED guards and keeping rival factions in check. They are generally reliant on vehicle jacking to maintain their presence on the service roads and tunnel networks and tend to crudely armour captured vehicles with sections of heavily corroded metal plate and ceramic pipe cut from The Tubes.
The most senior members of The Noseless oversee the smuggling of the exotic psychedelic fungi nurtured in The Taint's fungus farms. The Noseless are well acquainted with the network of drainage tunnels and rotator valves that connect The Taint to several key locations within LBN. They exploit this to weave armoured convoys through The Tubes, affording them ever changing routes deep into LBN.
These highly sought after mushrooms are nurtured by largely independent specialists known as Fung. Often menial workers in The Taint's fungus farms, the Fung have secret spore beds where they fastidiously propagate their illicit crop. Renowned for being eccentric loners they are nevertheless active amongst themselves, constantly sharing knowledge, splicing strains and collaborating to process harvests. The Fung have a particular affinity with The Noseless, partly due to their shared burden of toiling amongst the GigaCity’s waste but also because the Noseless consider their produce sacramental, the various strains providing a welcome palette of lurid inner experience for the user.
The Noseless consider Sniff use to be an unacceptable sign of weakness and mercilessly punish any members found to be users. Nevertheless senior members recognise its utility for control and profit and they openly manufacture and sell Sniff to ‘lesser’ gangs. Bad batches of highly corrosive and particularly aggressive Sniff are habitually attributed to the Noseless.
Many of the Noseless are former members of notorious gangs from some of the harshest Unvironments in the PBA. They willingly set aside their former loyalties and differences to embrace their new lives in the rank horror of The Taint. The Noseless firmly believe that they have been chosen by fate to be tested in this soul crushing corner of The Filth and that their savage denial of FED authority sets them apart as paragons of insurrection.
