Session 66: Fall from Grace Report

General Summary

The session began in the garden-viewing room of the manor belonging to Leodan Luthinen, who the party had killed in the previous session. While Baradin Godchosen searched Leodan's decapitated body for valuables, Omen ei' Taure gathered Nitt's things as he was disintegrated at the end of the last session. As Baradin was searching the body, a maple leaf then flew out from leodan's clothing and drifted around before flying toward and through Takemura's chest plate and disappearing.   Discussing how they could bring back Nitt, they realized the only way was through a True Resurrection, which would cost them 25 000 gold worth of diamonds, so they began searching the manor for valuables. In the manor, they found a seeming shrine with a statue of an elven figure with winds billowing through their hair and clothes, two bedrooms for children left empty, and a study containing a safe with 5 bars of platinum and two daggers engraved with the family sigil of Denivas, a rivaling High Houses of Niduin. At the top, they found a tower with the body of Oda Nobunaga and notes of arcane rituals. So, they grabbed the body and the notes before planning to leave and realized they needed to deal with the two guards that had stood outside and seen them enter.   After failing to lure the guards into the house by saying Leodan required their aid, Omen grappled them and dragged them into the manor before one was killed by Baradin and the other by Takemura Yoshiro before throwing the body of the guards and Leodan into the dining room before setting it aflame and hurrying back to the Rust Monsters's hideout where they spoke with Eleesa about it and were given a Spies' Murmur, a magic item that would allow them to contact the rust monsters from anywhere in the city, before taking a break for the day. During the wait, Eldon Caufield and Arten Veronica Lagurdo began to try and spread rumors that the members of the High Houses of Niduin were killing each other while Maro Rei 'Sky' began writing a letter to send back to the dynasty with the help of Baradin.   In the evening, they discussed resurrecting Oda Nobunaga, but Takemura said that evidence suggested he died valiantly and they should not rob him of that glory. He then said that because of this, Takemura had failed him and that because they recovered his body, Takemura would aid the rest of the group until this job was finished, then he would have to honor the code and give his life to restore his honor.   They rested and during the night Takemura was visited by a strange elven man, clad in robes of autumnal colors and jewelry that told him, he inherited a debt from Leodan and that he would tell him more if they met up above. They met and he said that he wanted them to get an item in the feywild, but he was in no rush and hoped to not force them to do so. He also told them his name was Caran and that he did not intend to exploit them as Leodan often tries to and would reward them accordingly and could arrange for the resurrection of their friend. For now, though, he would show them to some of Leodan's friends that he had planned to use to kill the queen. Caran showed them to a set of warehouses and a Balor broke through a wall and the party engaged it.   During the fight, Baradin caused laughter during a magical overload, and Arten, Maro, and Eldon were affected by short-term madness. As the three of them were taken out of the fight, Takemura and Baradin fought valiantly against it while Omen focused on protecting and helping the other three. As they managed to bring down the fiend on top of the roof of the warehouse, it exploded in fire, knocking Takemura unconscious.
