Dr. Lucian Graves is the psychologist and counselor for the Ravensmore Academy and also holds the position of Assistant Headmaster.
He appears to be a caring, jovial, and professional individual in charge of the mental well-being of the students of the Academy. The students see him as someone who "gets them" and rave about how wonderful he is at helping them overcome their problems.
What is not generally known, as Dr. Graves' past has been covered up by The Phantom and his many agents around the world.
Dr. Lucian Graves was once a celebrated psychologist named Lucian Greyson, known for his groundbreaking work in understanding the human psyche. Born into a family of scholars, Lucian was a prodigy, displaying an uncanny ability to read and influence people’s emotions from a young age. He pursued his studies with relentless determination, earning multiple degrees and accolades.
However, his life took a dark turn when his wife, Eleanor, was tragically killed in a car accident. Devastated by grief and unable to cope with the loss, Lucian began to explore the darker aspects of the mind, seeking ways to bring her back or at least communicate with her spirit. His obsession led him to ancient texts and forbidden knowledge, unlocking latent mental powers that allowed him to manipulate thoughts and emotions. As his powers grew, so did his ambition. Lucian started using his abilities to control and torment those he deemed responsible for his suffering, including colleagues who had once been his friends. He became known as Dr. Graves, a name that struck fear into the hearts of those who heard it. His once compassionate nature was replaced by a cold, calculating demeanor, and he reveled in the power he wielded over others.
The Phantom saw in Dr. Graves a very useful tool and ally and approached him with the offer to work with him to achieve his goals.
Dr. Graves now works for The Phantom, using his mental prowess to brainwash the students of Ravensmore Academy

Dr. Graves was born with the ability to read and manipulate other's emotions. His abilities came to the forefront when he was in high school and he wanted to use his abilities to help others with their emotional trauma.
After his wife was killed, he took his studies into the realm of the dark arts and learned to use magic to strengthen his own abilities.
Through emotional control, he can literally drive another person insane. Since he has come to work with The Phantom his abilities have greatly expanded and his new mentor has allowed him near-free reign to test his abilities as he learns new ones.
