General Summary

Session 8: Road Trip: Teacher, Teacher, I Declare...

Archer and the Schizos

Issue #3   Archer and the Schizos arrive in Chatanooga, Tennessee. One part of the group decided to go to Lookout Mountain while the others take in the tour of Ruby Falls, a beautiful underground tour of and amazing natural cave system. Near the end of the tour, Hope, Alex, Cady and Micheal hear a scream for help deeper in the cave. Rushing towards the cry the heroes find themselves suddenly enveloped in darkness and they feel themselves falling, finally coming to a stop and they find themselves seated in an elementary school classroom. Before long, a woman enters, dressed and looking like an elementary school teacher and announces that she will be teaching the "children" the correct use of their abilities. Zoetrope tries to leave the class but instantly finds herself sitting back at her desk and unable to get up. She continues to be "disruptive" so the Teacher throws a "detention slip" that hits Zoetrope who is teleported into a dark chamber with no way out.   Back in the classroom, the Teacher asks what the link between power and responsibility is. While the heroes respond that those with power have the responsibility to use them to help others or use them wisely. The Teacher tells them they are wrong and that those with power have no responsibility, that power raises them above responsibility. She decides that the "students" need a field trip to show them. The other three heroes are simultaneously transported to similar dark chambers as Zoetrope.   A door opens in Zoetrope's chamber that leads out to Samana Cay and the laboratory of Overlord. There she overhears Overlord speaking with Prism about Zoetrope and how he is concerned about what's been happening with Zoetrope's powers and how he feels Zoetrope should be brought back to Samana Cay. When they notice Zoetrope, Overlord tries to explain that it's for the best. However, Zoetrope refuses to go along with what she is seeing because she knows it isn't real. As she walks away the Teacher appears and transports her back to the classroom.   Archer's door open onto Otherworld where she finds Sabrina, Steve and Thomas all discussing Thomas' and Hope's breakup, Thomas expressing that he feels that Hope may have high expectations of him, because of the high standards represented by Steve and Sabrina (a.k.a. Captain America II and Merlinia). When Hope enters, she informs them that this is not real and that she did not have too high expectations of him. She brings up what the Teacher talked about concerning power and responsibility and Hope is shocked that her parents respond that in some ways, the Teacher is right. Hope knows for certain that what she is experiencing is not real and leaves only to be intercepted by a page who turns out to be the Teacher and she is sent back to the classroom.   Angel finds himself back at his home in New York when Michael's parents arrive. They are obviously pained because of their apparent estrangement and are very concerned for their son. Even though his roommates try to defend him, his parents push for him to come back to Ireland. They mention he doesn't act like the Michael they knew did and say he should perhaps see a doctor. Angel agrees with them and begins to leave to go see a doctor when there is a knock at the door. It's a delivery person who turns out to be the Teacher who shakes her head and send Angel back to the classroom.   Plastiq exits her chamber to find herself back in New York in the midst of a disaster. A massive superhero/supervillain fight is happening leaving massive destruction in its wake. Her roommate Janis, dressed as her "heroic ID" Miss Andry, has been stabbed and is gravely wounded. Plastiq is conflicted to go help stop the fight going on or stay with her friend as she's transported to the hospital. She decides to go with Janis. In the ambulance, Janis goes into heart failure and the medic applies a defibrillator. The medic turns out to be the Teacher who hits Plastiq with the defibrillator sending her back to the classroom.   Back in the classroom, the Teacher expresses her disappointment that her students refuse to learn. The heroes then pretend to go along with her, and Zoetrope manages to swap the Teacher's chalk, apparently the source of her power, and attack her. They defeat her and prepare to return to their world. When they return to the cave, they are met by the park ranger and PRIMUS agents Knuck and Futz. The agents want the heroes to turn over the chalk to them for safe keeping, but Archer insists the Avengers, specifically Merlinia, should keep it. The heroes suddenly realize that they are still in the Teacher's dimension, and they have to take out the Teacher. They manage it and leave, but Angel talks the team into bringing the Teacher with them so she can pay for her crimes. However, once she crosses into the real world, she re-awakens, laughing and growing in power. Acting quickly, the heroes manage to force her back into her dimension and close it off.
