Qahila
Qahila, the desert continent turned country, is beautiful and dangerous, but it is home to those who live there. The desert sun beats harshly down on the sand, and many of the citizens are nomadic, with only the port cities and the capital being stationary. Large desert beasts burrow into the sand and make travel dangerous, especially to those who are unaware of the danger. Still, those who brave the treacherous lands and better still, those who survive, earn the blessing of Samira, and the protection of the Council of Guilds.
Structure
Alhimaya is the capital city of Qahila, with the Nobinya desert stretching from shore to shor of this large continent. Large sand dunes run down the center of the continent, with a few craggy rock peaks and mesas visible at a long distance. The people of Qahila are all members of different guilds, joining when they turn seventeen, and are nomadic unless they live in the capital or one of the port cities.
Culture
The nomadic people are masters of whatever craft they have chosen, and if the craft they have chosen is one that reguires certain tools or stillness, they are able to settle in the city with no difficulty. Even if not, there are large festivals in the city several times throughout the year where many people gather. The guild are incredibly important, and membership is treasured above all.
History
Qahila was born when a group of pirates failed to give the proper offerings to Miran, goddess of the sea, and she sent them to Qahila as punishment. They managed to survive the desert storms and Samira, goddess of sand and desert fortitude (and Miran’s sister) was impressed by them. To piss of her sister and in reward for their efforts, she gifted them the city of Alhimaya, and sent more people their way in order to build Qahila into a nation.
Religion
The worship of Samira is practiced in the desert regions, as she is known to favor those who are able to survive in the desert. Additionally, Malik is known to be worshipped in the guilds because he blesses those who show skill in their chosen craft.
Foreign Relations
Qahila is on good terms with most countries because of the fact that they are a mjor hub for the arts, but as they are not on good terms with the sea goddess Marin, it is at times difficult to reach them, and pirates are more likely to attack ships bearing Qahila's crest.
