A Blade Older than Earth

When Zatan'na founded his city, Zatana'na nal Zanal'krii'tal some billion mortal years ago, he longed for a weapon worthy of his wielding. The Ancient Primordial Demon held a challenge for all demons in his kingdom to make him a blade worthy of his holding. It's unclear how long the challenge lasted, but surviving records from the era reveal that thousands upon thousands of demons forged blades for their lord.
After presumably a few ages, or even an entire Demon Line, one demon by the name of Envii'ful'makiin forged a blade of the ultimate greatness and brought it to Zatan'na. Zatan'na upon seeing the blade took it and wielded it high, and no more than a few moments later, the blade alit in a great cyan flame and mist. A reaction from the blade, as if acknowledging the Primordial Ancient's power.
When Zatan'na asked Envii'ful'makiin what the blade was named, he said "Av'taran'zal," which roughly translates to, " The Beacon of the Greatest of Powers."

A Blade Passed Down

Since it's initial wielding by Zatan'na, and following the Infernus Civil War, the Blade of Av'taran'zal has passed down from High King to High King in the lines derived from the Primordial Ancient. This tradition began with Elder Demon Avern'na Satan'na, founder of House Satan'na (currently House Abaddon/Avernus) which is a continuation of the Zatan'na lineage renamed due to wanting their name dissociated with a traitorous demon.
The blade itself is primarily used in ceremonies and in the crowning of High Kings. Although rarely used, the blade has made appearances in major battles and in the of slaying many famous demons and angels. The blade in Elder 8th Line (Generation Final Great/Reawakening) was given the title of Kal'raavul (Sacred Weaponry).
The blade is housed in Avernus Palace, displayed above the Kul'vul'miir Throne.

Forged of the Greatest Metals

The Blade of Av'taran'zal is made from both of Infernus's rarest and greatest metals: Kolm'zuul and Fii'kriskal. During the Ancient rule, these two metals were abundant but were used primarily in architecture. The blade was the first to use these metals for the purpose of weaponry.
The blade itself is made entirely from Kolm'zuul, which is practically indestructible and scratch proof, and yet also the most elegant of all metals in the realm. The hilt is made from Fii'kriskal, a dark, golden metal that is highly reactive to mana when channeled. It's this metal that reacts to the Avernus family's mana, which lights the blade in the legendary cyan flames and mist of the High Family.
