Gardener

A rare title granted by the Children of the Forest to those they trust the most, someone titled 'Gardener' is sure to command respect by all those who value Spring. The title itself is fairly unofficial and does not implicitly come with land or responsibility, though the requirements are extremely difficult to reach. It is not enough to earn one Forest Dweller's trust to earn the title, but all of them. A naive druid's apprentice might attempt to prove themselves to each faerie one by one, and indeed this is expected of a Gardener, but the truth of the matter requires tasks or service of sufficient height that it proves to all Dwellers in the area that the human is to be trusted. Once this is achieved, they place a charm upon the Gardener such that they can be recognized as worthy by all Fey everywhere.

Notable Holders

One of the first people worthy of the Gardener title was the Greenknight who also earned the Armour of Spring, whose name was lost to time. She earned the title as part of the process that also earned her the legendary armour, and it is hypothesized that she was the first human to gain the Children's trust to such a level that they granted her such power over Spring. All Greenknights since have included earning the title of Gardener as part of their most important goals in their advancements.   The Warden of Spring, the slumbering leading archdruid of the city of Bloom is always required to be a Gardener, and in fact most archdruids eventually gain the title. The hearthtrees of these archdruids (and any other Gardener) are the most magnificent of all, earning vibrant gifts of beautiful plants and frequent friendly visits from all the Forest Dwellers in the area.
