Six Stars

We left everything behind
To make a better world than the one we know
But Cassiopeia has six stars now
And we, at last, are home
This short fragment of a presumably unfinished poem marks the final entry of Aviam Sharov's personal diary. It was written just hours before the Terpenie's fateful arrival. While the text arguably only became famous because of the tragic circumstances of its creation, it has a lasting legacy thanks to strongly resonating with not only the initial colonists of Alpha Centauri, but also generations of later immigrants. The imagery of the six stars was even adopted in the flag of the Sharov's World Confederation.
