Lirra

"Lirra the Dreamer... Is she responsible for nightmares as well? Do you think she controls them? I hope not. That'd be a bit weird."
— Unknown

A Whisper in the Starlight

Felt across the Eight Lands as a delicate breath softening the harsh edges of the world, Lirra walks in the shadows of quiet hours. Treading darkened paths in the moonlight, she weaves her gentle spells through the minds of those in her sweet embrace.   Her touch is gossamer-like, coaxing weary minds into slumber to find their desperately needed rest. Her presence is felt through the soft rustling of leaves, a distant hoot of an owl, and the sweet tranquility of the silence that follows.   Those who worship the Dreamer do so as delicately as she is herself, simply leaving a drop of chamomile on their foreheads as they go to rest.

A Song in the Dawn's light

While some believe her to leave messages and instructions in their dreams, no one has ever claimed to have witnessed Lirra herself, only ever speaking of a smiling woman with a soft, calming aura about her. Many artists have tried to capture the serenity that she provides to them, though they tend to fall short of true realization, as one can never truly grasp the essence of a dream.   In the time between sleeping and waking, Lirra provides that which cannot be found elsewhere; a place of fearlessness even amongst fear itself.   Though Lirra touches the minds of the sleeping and weaves them glorious tapestries, Lirra herself is said to never have slept. A curse given by the cost of her domain, leaving her sleepless since the beginning of creation, to never experience what she provides herself. After all, how could she provide her sweet relief to mortals if she herself is asleep?

What a tragic figure :(   Beautiful language in this article, by the way <3

I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Lirra is a bit tragic, but she's a very necessary figure. Everyone needs their cozy beauty sleep!

Would you describe the taste as sweet, perhaps more savoury? Or maybe a surprising hint of tartness?

I agree, Unknown, it would be a bit weird if this gentle goddess is also responsible for nightmares. Yet I fully believe goddesses have limitless capacity for weird...   I loved this article so much I included it in my Reading Challenge for this year :D
