"They're the aquatic maestros of the whimsical, conducting underwater symphonies and making waves in the most magical of ways." — A fisherman, whom no one had asked a question to
Submergence
As one of the rarest dragons to be seen across the Eight Lands, water dragons have been tied to legend and mysteries for thousands of years.
One person may claim that water dragons live in the deepest parts of the ocean, protecting what once was but has since become no longer. Another may claim that there are simply very few water dragons, and that
lagoon drakes must now hold the place that water dragons once did.
There are many legends, many tales, and many tides to ebb and flow across the Eight Lands, but none of these stories have ever been found to be true, and the legend of the water dragons stays shrouded within the depths of the seas.
Resurgence
Despite this shroud of mystery, there have been many common folk who choose to blame the bad fortune of the coastal life on the wrath of these aquatic creatures. They speak of the winds that drive the thatch from their roofs, the tides that leave their boats resting on the seabed, and the crashing thunder of the furies above.
As with any opinion in this world, there are those who choose to hold it and those who choose to hold a differing one. Fishermen whom are labelled maddened, captains thought to have perished in gales only to have their ship be seen limping into port weeks later, and even lighthouse keepers who man the lamps to keep the shoals clear of wreckage have all spoken out in favour of these mystical creatures. None can agree on their sightings, however, and descriptions vary wildly from "mostly fish-like" to "it bit my leg off!".
