Bifrost Mirrors

Hidden within the realm of Prototokos, ancient stone monuments marked with Runic letters are seemingly placed. Found everywhere from the darkest caves, to the brightest of valley's the stone monuments offer an even more hidden ancient device, known as the Bifrost Mirrors. The stone monuments, along with the ancient markings also have a bowl shaped object protruding from the center that requires a blood offering to open, and reveal its secrets. The marking have yet to be deciphered by the likes of travelers, but there have been some sages and sorcerers that claim to be able to read the language.
After offering up a sample of blood, it is said that throughout the world of Prototokos large non man made statues known as Bifrost Mirrors have been found beyond the runes. These large statues are said to be bright gold in color, with an almost white metallic stone surrounding the main features. The stonework appears to be in the shape of an arch with golden, unknown inscription detailing the arch, and on both the left and right sides of the arch a knight embracing his sword has been carved from the stone. The knights have been called the "Ancient Protectors" and the inscription has only been labeled as the "Writing of the Ancient Ones". Many scholars, sages and wise storytellers have said that if you can decipher the inscription, that the knights would spring to life and grant the next traveler/s safe passage and also provide an exact coordination of destination. Although this has become mostly myth, and no one has been able to read the language and therefore the lore of the "Ancient Protectors" has no truth. As for the way the Bifrost Mirrors operate, it is said that once a creature or object passes through the arch, that a bright, blinding golden light overcomes their vision and with no notice or any attempt to resist the the object or creature is magically transported to an unknown destination somewhere within the plane of Prototokos. In the year 485 B.T.S., a group of sorcerers and sages known as "The Mystics", searched for many years in an attempt to discover all the locations of the mirrors and their destinations. It is believed they found nearly a dozen of the Bifrost Mirrors and were on their way to making a grand discovery that would change the navigational landscape of Prototokos forever. But than a large number of years would pass, nearly 100 years to be exact, and no word from the epic attempt to uncover the whereabouts was heard again. No documents, scriptures, writing or new knowledge. With very little known, and a limited supply of documents recorded, is it believed that once entering one of the Bifrost Mirrors, your destination releases you with 100 to 200 miles of another existing mirror. This almost instant teleportation can be a great distances and various locations. Another fact says that the mirrors can be found anywhere from underground, atop mountains, within the clouds and even in the deep depths of the ocean. This sort of unknown travel has made the truths behind the mirrors a very terrifying discovery. However, the last known written document stored away in the vast library of the Bonfire Citadel, written by the old arcane sage named Heimdall, whom is believed to be the last of "The Mystics" states   "The Fleetingly Glimpsed, The Reflections Are True...This is my lifes work - Heimdall"   Whatever the truths are, the many unknowns there may be. One thing is for certain, no boring journey is worth taking.
