Parthena Village
New, fresh, untouched, virgin....whatever word you choose to use to describe innocence radiates from the Parthena Village. Founded shortly after the last vision of The Brightening, this all female village is young and untarnished by outsiders. As the world began to corrupt, and vile action began to erupt throughout Prototokos, the deities and gods struggled to align their worshippers. Yet the followers of Hippolyta arrived on the small island in the middle of a calm lake. Unnamed and uninhabited, Hippolyta instructed her people to remain simple and humble as they began to call the island home.
The all female followers worked tirelessly to build their new home, and develope harmony during the harsh time. In a short time the worshippers of Hippolyta began to thrive. The land provided enough vegetation and wildlife to survive. And the surrounding lake, newly named Cleansed Lake contains a fruitful wealth of freshwater supply. Primitive and simple, this way of living meets all the needs of Hippolyta and her female followers.
As radical as it may seem to only have an all female village, Hippolyta believes that to remain peaceful, the presence of man is only necessary for procreation. They directly control their population, as to ensure to not take too much from the land that they call home. Every January, 20 young females between the ages of 17 and 20 known as PURE MAIDENS from the village, accompanied by 5 PURE SWORNS, travel to the nearby trading city of Sterling. There the Pure Sworns are instructed to find 4 single males of the purest nature. Those males cannot align themselves with a deity of evil, be strictly of human race and also be virgin to the atmosphere of intimacy. To ensure that these needs are met, the Pure Sworns use multiple methods to find the males who are worthy. These methods include the assistance of the city of Sterling.
Protectors of Hippolyta...The Pure Sworn
Shortly after the village was founded, the followers of Hippolyta came to an agreement with the city of Limani and The Order of the White. This agreement included a supply of followers and disciples at the cost of protection and help to keep their population thriving. The city of Limani employs many of the guards that populate the city of Sterling. Sterling provides protection and safe travel for the Hippolyta worshippers at the command of Limani. And in return, the village provides any male children who might be born and women who choose to mother their newly born boys. After childbirth, once the sex of each child is determined, any males are blessed by the Old Mother of the Parthena Village and than sent directly to Limani. From there the child will be raised and provided the option to follow the beliefs of the city or go out on their own. During this process, the mother of the newly born boys may choose to leave the village to accompany their child. If the mother shall choose to leave the village, they are too blessed by the Old Mother and are granted safe passage, but can never return to the village.
This intimate process, known as Natures Nestling, is equally deterrent for the males who select themselves for this procreation. Once chosen by the Pure Sworns, the males travel to the Parthena Village, where they must spend 7 days in solitude without any outside contact in a safe haven on the island. Than the males are than taken to a den where they must engage in what is called The Dancing Bulls, a hand to hand combat with each other. The two strongest males are deemed worthy of the intimate pledge to the 20 maidens. This breeding lasts as long it may take to ensure that each of the 20 Pure Maidens become impregnated. Once this is completed, the males are treated to a large feast of their choice, branded on their chest with the Crest of Hippolyta and are convoyed back to the main coastline.
The Dancing of the Bulls combat for the Pure Maidens
Parthena Village is rare during this age of Shadow, but has a serene almost necessary fit during this time. Parthena Village remains prominent in keeping humble in the hopes of someday seeing the second coming of The Brightening.
Government
There is no structural government on Parthena Village, instead age and wisdom control the ideas of the village. The wisest of village is known as The Old Mother, typically any the woman who has lived the longest or was lucky enough to birth twins or more. The village listens to the wise Old Mother and all her opinions carry more weight than that of a Maiden. But ultimately, the signs of Hippolyta are what control the day to day in the lives of this village.
Defences
The village is heavily defended and respected by the city of Limani and Sterling. Ship and boat patrols can be spotted traveling the Cleansed Lake to help ward off invaders. The village also has a large Fire Signal that they light when in need of desperation. But not to be mistaken, the Pure Sworns of the village are battle trained and imposing to any who try and endanger their way of living.
