Anderl Slatemaw

Description

Anderl is a Sephran Ranger who had found himself as a captive in a dungeon controlled by a Lich named Reknod. Fortunately, a group of adventurers consisting of Sparhawk, Fireheart, Sylrieth, and Poomansteve happened upon him and released him from his capture. After the group made it out of the dungeon with the help of Ulthis, he offered to stay with them to help pay off their debts.

Personal history

Anderl was born in a small village in Ephiria to a Sephran couple with severe gabling addictions. At the age of 6, the parents of Anderl sold him to a demon named Albezok'Dirn to settle their debts. Albezok then took the child into the Abyss and used him as a toy to torture. For 8 years the boy was toyed with, nonstop; psychologically and physically. One day, he managed to escape the clutches of the demon, running as fast and as far away as he could away from that horrid place. After what felt like days of running, he came across a doorway leading into a void of emptyness. Believing it to be an escape, he walks through the doorway and into the Void. He refuses to speak about what he saw in there, though the scars he received from those foul entities and monstrosities can be seen in his eyes. At some point, he was found in a catatonic state, huddled in a small crevice by a lone Voidwalker, who brought him back to the Voidwalker Citadel. After they were able to bring him out of his condition, he began screaming and begged them to let him go. They then began to rehabilitate him, showing him that he was truly in the material plane and safe. After two years, they finally allowed him to leave the citadel and begin a new life for himself. The first thing he did was track down his parents. He found them in Dunwich, likely hiding from debt collectors, and killed them for what they did to him. As they lay dying, their last words to their lost child were "We finally found you!". He later found out that they were in Dunwich looking for someone to take them through the nearby Abyssal Entry so that they could find Anderl and bring him back home. He was able to escape capture for the murder of his parents, but on that day, he swore that he would think hard about the consequences before acting on impulse.
