Humans
Humans are spread far and wide throughout Quiloriel, appearing on all six continents. Their empires and deeds are the stuff of legend and song. Among other races, humans can seem arrogantly superior, but this may just be them trying to make up for being less long-lived and powerful than other species. Human cultures vary widely across the world, and so do their physical features among those ethnicities. It is said that there are nine true variants of humans, and all the peoples of the world fit under one of them or the other. There is no universal human language, as, fitting with their other tendencies, they tend to proliferate in that sort of thing.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Humans are bipedal, with two legs used for walking and running, two arms used for many purposes, and a head.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Humans can eat a wide variety of things, from a diet of almost entirely animal products to only plant matter. They are, however, restricted to eating organic foodstuffs apart from salt. In addition, humans cannot digest many tough plant fibers or things such as bone.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Humans can see, smell, taste, hear, and touch as a way of perceiving their environment. A few humans gain psionics, darkvision, or truesight, but this can only be achieved through magical means. Their senses are not very acute compared to other species, lacking in range and sensitivity, but it's enough to protect them from danger, usually.
Civilization and Culture
Average Technological Level
Humans are made up of thousands of different ethnicities, each with their own technology and knowledge. Some peoples build great feats of engineering and architecture with the help of high magic, while others are in an endless stone age with simple tools and small huts.
History
Humans first appeared on the Isle of Creation more than three thousand years ago. They learned the ways of gathering and hunting for food, of making shelters and fire, of praying to the gods. The population grew rapidly, and brave explorers set out in long chains of canoes and boats to colonize the rest of the world. Eventually, no one was left on the island of their origin, and no one was there to see it when it sank beneath the crashing waves.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Humans' beliefs about other species vary, truly not just from culture to culture, but individual to individual. They can be arrogant and superior, tolerant, or simply curious about other species. Views range widely, and no one can really agree.
