A journey of the lightening rail system of the Mastricht meets an abrupt stop in the Nettlewood forest.
Session 39: The Mastricht: Train Conspiracy
You all boarded the Mastricht lightning rail train in an attempt to catch up with the rouge E4. You began the trip by immediately badgering the conductor for a tour of the train which he rightfully denied at first. About a day into travel, the new employee Finster sheepishly admitted to you, Connor, that in his haste to collect everyone’s tickets, he missed that he has one less ticket than there is people on the train. He suggested someone snuck on without one, and arbitrarily blamed Sal. After you confronted him and his group, you deduced it was unlikely that they were suspects. Around this time, the conductor and by happenstance the rest of the CR5 were invited to fraternize with “the Baron” in first class. But instead, you all insistence of a tour, and this time got your way. Along the way, you encountered some interesting characters, and got into some hijinx, but eventually made your way to 1st class. Unfortunately for you Baron Donladson H. F. Hutchinson, as it happens appears to be a twin of a man a few of you had recently encountered in the Platinum Square. It also appeared that he just wanted to brag to you about his pending marriage to Lady Gwenzel Slaodach, but also found about a bandit group called “The Trodden” which were threatening his serfs which he had hired a group of four mercenaries to deal with. After being pushed out, Finster reported to you all that his visual sweep of the train revealed “no threats”, right before the train expectantly screeched to an abrupt halt. You all investigated. Connor found that someone had awoken the back elemental, causing the emergency breaks to initiate, and was done some in a rather rudimentary way. Vel and Eri searched outside, and saw the insectoid looking creature scurrying across the roof from the back engine car into the cargo car. And Brogg posed as the Baron’s twin brother to extract some, if true, valuable info. 1) The baron appears not to know what the train stopped, 2) he kept seeing a small bald man was tailing him throughout Behemith and believed he was from the Trodden, and 3) he doesn’t trust/have faith in his hired bodyguards and so struck a deal with the hobgoblin, Okug, to protect him if his bodyguards failed. Still in disguised Brogg stepped out into the hallway of 1st class, just as a 3rd Baron was sneaking in from the passenger car.
