The Grand Alexander Hotel
Description
A thirty-story building, the Grand Alexander Hotel is the largest building in Lorme, surrounded by other high-rises around the city center.Interior
Entering the hotel, guests and patrons are greeted with a tiled hallway and front desk, preceding a large grand staircase carpeted in velvety red, which splits off to the left and right. Its railings are inlaid with gold from the South. To the left of the lobby is the bar and restaurant, and to the right, the gambling room, not unlike the Diamond Oleander Casino. Each section on the left and right has stairs leading down to the two massive theatres on the lower and ground levels. The hotel is a common destination for theatregoers. On the twenty-fifth floor, there is a large hall with stone columns, decorated like that of a brewing room, melded with a throne room. This floor contains no suites or housing rooms, rather, it is used for event space.
Several floors above, on the twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth floors are conference rooms and a large penthouse suite, and connected, a massive rooftop terrace. This is mostly accessible only to the high ranking members of the Scarlet Syndicate. However, Agent Diamond of the Seeker's Bureau once did come up this high on an investigation unrelated to her opera career.
Purpose / Function
The building was constructed in hopes of becoming a massive theatre-hub where people would stay overnight and also enjoy the comforts of theatre in the lower levels. It was intended for the filthy-rich.
Alterations
A terrace garden and upper conference area was added on the third from top floor as a private outdoor meeting space. An elevator system was also installed following the complicated stair designs through the hotel.
Architecture
The roof is slanted upwards in a large Mansard, quasi-Dutch, French style with several turrets and large emerging windows. The building has a massive terrace around the back, toward the upper floors (around 1 or 2 floors below roof level). The building's stone is a light-tan, yellowish almost, with a pair of dark orange columns adorning the entrance. There is extensive detailing and wood trim on each of the many windows that the building possesses.
