Fenris

The Hound of Chaos, The Hound of War, The Faithless Wolf

Fenris was once a loyal hound of the gods, equal in power and faithfully serving them. During the Primordial Epoch, he fought valiantly alongside the gods in their battle against the Titans. However, as the war dragged on, Fenris became increasingly rabid. By the war's end, he was but a shadow of the loyal hound he had been, though his power had grown immensely. The trauma of the conflict twisted him into a creature of unimaginable bloodlust.   With the Titans sealed away, the gods feared Fenris might soon turn against them or their creations. Tyr was tasked with distracting the Chaos Hound long enough for Gadriel to bind him in golden silk. During the battle, Tyr lost his hand, but his sacrifice allowed Gadriel to successfully bind Fenris. Together, the gods sealed Fenris away in Pandemonium.   During the Mythic Era, Fenris managed to loosen his bindings and began communicating with mortals on the Prime Material Plane, bestowing powers upon several groups. In Fraustelheim, he granted dominion over the howling winds, whispering to their leaders that Yirgelmir had chosen them to rule the world. In Cyrina, he granted control over roaring flames, convincing the nobility that only the strong may rule. Believing this to be guidance from Gadriel, the Cyrinian nobility began to oppress anyone they deemed as "the Weak". Finally, in Akarukuni, Fenris revealed himself as a god and bestowed fell powers upon a select few, enabling them to raise the dead and summon his likeness.   As these plots unfolded, the gods became aware of Fenris's involvement and took measures to ensure he could not free himself further. Although they strengthened his bindings, the damage to the mortal realm was already done. To this day, warlocks continue to seek power from the Chaos Hound.
