The Witchwood Hags

In ancient times, three hags crossed from the realm of the fairy to a magical enchanted forest. Across the years, they slowly corrupted and turned this realm into a crused and dire place. Animals became monsters, tribes turned against each other, and a dark mist of misery descended on the woods.   Devoted to chaos, corruption, and taking glee in their cruel acts, the Witchwood Coven survived for thousands of years until Doomed 2 Die and the Silver Paladin descended upon the forest to reclaim it from the dark fey that had infested it. Beleived to be dead at the hands of these heroes, the coven seems to be completly destroyed...

Regan the Babe-Eater

The oldest, cruelest, and most brutal of the hags, Regan lived in a small enchanted and animated hut deep within the mire of the witchwood. Known to devour their victims and lure children in the forest, Regan's name had been passed through local mythology and legend as a bogeyman figure. Appearing as a crooked old lady with long white hair and sharp facial features with moss green and brown eyes, Regan had a terrifying and malicious apperance. Taller than their peers, their spindly form could creep up upon and torment any of their chosen with their voices and illusions spreading throughout the forest.

Gonneril the Corrupter

Gonneril was a violent yet gleeful hag who took pleasure in 'monkey's-paw' like deals and pacts with wanderers. Those who could not fufil her deals were magically compelled into the forest and turned into enchanted scarecrows with their 'wish' written on a board that hung around their necks. Owning a broom of flying, Gonneril would stealthily move through the mists and throw her token 'pumpkin bombs' at those she had chosen to torment. As she slowly whittled them down, she would use her psychic powers to find the deepest desires of her victims and promise them an impossible deal.   Gonneril appeared as a short but stocky green-grey skinned old woman with a hunched back and white hair tied back with animal bones. Her appendanges appeared clawed and her feat too large in proportion to her body. Her eyes were a peircing orange that could be seen coming out from the mists at any time to terrify her victims.

Cressida the Fate Spinner

A mysterious and leaf covered member of the Coven, Cressida could connect with the past and present of any creature or object within 120ft of her. She lived in a ruined Marcian Watchtower brewing potions and growing dark flowers. Cressida was known to use a magical rose that could be blown and cause painful necrotic damage. Cressida was the only member of the coven that got a lethal hit on their attackers, killing Einar the skald outright before they were eventually revived by The Silver Paladin.   Cressida had a deep knowledge of those she saught out and used this to her advantage, causing confusion and fear by bringing up the dark mistakes of fears of her prey. Cressida used control over plants and her dark botany to create blights to inflict her punishments. She apperaed as an average sized humanoid covered in leaves and reeds. Only the dark, bark like arm was ever revaled, with their face being hidden behind a cloak of grass. Their eyes glew a bright white.

Structure

The Witchwood Coven was composed of three powerful and ancient green hags who ruled by majority vote. Unlike other covens, these three hags worked in general unision and agreement and controlled various areas of the forest between them, corrupting all they could. Magical thralls were sometimes created, but the organization never grew more than three members.

History

The Witchwood Hags came to the Witchwood sometime in the second or first ages and began to corrupt the magical and enchanted forest. Devoted to chaos and spreading misery, the hags spent centuries slowly corrupting and turning the enchanted residents and magics of the forest in theri favour. The Kernowian clans that once lived there were torn apart by the trickery of the hags or ran to new homes with only a small druidic circle dedicated to Silvanus remaining.    In 992, 3e the Witchwood Coven were responsible for the curse of ill-luck upon members of the Parental Problems Possee, including Ulric who would eventully return to these woods as the Silver Paladin.   During the 40 year war, the Hags prayed on the general misery of the conflict and lured in retreating soldiers and deserters to torture and corrupt. The Battle of the Mists were fought throughout the Witchwood between Eldrian and Seldrinar forces. Those who survived the battle revealed that they were often tricked with illusions to engage in friendly fire and were plagued with curses and ill effects.   In 1052, the coven began to pray on Doomed 2 Die. Unlike their previous targets, these heroes from the north formed an alliance with the Silver Paladin and took down the hags one by one in across a long night. All three hags were killed, and it was said the forest woudl slowly start to heal.
