Alexandria
The holy city of dragons.
History
Alexanderia is considered the holy city of dragons in Avalon. It was said when the pilgrims came upon the land of Avalon, they ventured to Alexander, the great dragon of this realm, located in his mighty fortress where Alexandria now resides. When they had paid proper tribute to Alexander, he sought his slumber beneath the city, and the city became a holy ground.
For a long time, none but the strongest warriors and most skilled mages were allowed anywhere near Alexandria, as the old city that once existed there was set aside for religious purposes. Eventually, a civil war began to determine who would control Alexandria. When the war was settled, the government was relocated to Alexandria for the purposes of making it a neutral territory.
In recent times, the Siege of Alexandria brought the city to ruin in the previous civil war. This allowed the city to modernize, but at the cost of many of the former noble houses of the city. The city stands as testament once again to the uniting power of the Irenic Order.
Geography
The city resides on a large escarpment, bordered by a forest, a mountain, and rolling hills in all other directions. The city is conglomerated near a lake, fed by the snows of the nearby mountain. The Irenic Castle stands on a large cliffside overlooking the lake. The city itself is contained within a massive citadel, featuring four entrances at following the major thoroughfares in and out of the city.
