Maulath "Maul" Manthrower

Maulath Manthrower (a.k.a. Maul)
At around 18 years old, a human clan ambushed Maul and his clan in the night, killing many of Maul’s friends and family and causing the clan to scatter. Upon seeing Maul’s unusual long black hair, they kidnapped him and put him in the circus. The man that ran the circus and handled Maul was someone by the name of Claudio Di Placido, calling the circus Di Placido’s Imaginarium Emporium. Maul’s time in the circus was an unpleasant one. Claudio would whip Maul to get him to work and force him to perform. He was kept in what seemed like a normal cart from the outside, but on the inside there were chains and whips that Claudio would use on Maul. Claudio was the only one that Maul ever saw come in. Maul resented all 5 heads of the circus but he hated Claudio most of all. Claudio wouldn’t allow Maul to interact with the others in the circus. He was only allowed to go out and perform, then forced back into his chains.
Claudio would have Maul go out in front of a large crowd, separated from Maul by a large dome cage, and lift and throw heavy and unusual objects. Maul was loved by the crowd for his unusual strength and appearance, his hair being one of his most appealing traits. He was fed table scraps but enough to keep him in shape. For the first 6 months he was there, Maul felt nothing but defeat and shame because he allowed himself to be captured. Then that defeat and shame turned into resentment and anger towards Claudio and the other heads of the circus. Over the next 1.5 years, that resentment built into what it is today. Around the 2 year anniversary of Maul’s addition to the circus, one of the heads and the main act of the show appears in Maul’s cart. Maul knew this man to be Jack of Hearts. He seemed to be approaching with caution but Maul only met him with anger and aggression. Jack explained to Maul that he was there to help and would get Maul out. Jack proceeded to walk out and seemingly to Maul, forget about his promise. About a week later, Jack returns to Maul’s cage and unlocks his chains, telling Maul to follow his lead.
Maulath finds Jack handing him one of the whips that was kept in the cart. For a brief moment, Maulath considers using it on Jack and just escaping himself but that thought fades quickly to Maulath’s better judgement. Maulath begins to follow Jack through parts of the circus Maulath had never seen before. After about a minute of navigating through the circus, Maulath and Jack hear what seems to be yelling and a large group running. It begins to get louder and suddenly, a group of 10 of Claudio’s guards come into view. Jack signals for Maulath to run and they begin to move quickly through the circus. Guards try to get in their way but fail as Jack casts a spell that makes one of them burst out in laughter and slashes one of the others distracted by the laughing guard, all while Maulath whips another away as they try to tackle him. As they turn the corner, they are met with another group of around 10 guards blocking their path. Maulath turns to his right and looks down to see a large hammer on the ground by what seems to be some form of game. Maulath wraps the whip around his chest and shoulder and picks up the hammer, beginning to walk toward the group of guards in the way. Maulath feels something hit his back and finds Jack back to back with Maulath. As they approach the guards, one of them charges at Maulath but is met with a swift hit of the hammer to his face, knocking him to the side. The other guards begin to charge towards Maulath but none can reach him as he knocks each one away with a swing of the hammer.
The moment the coast is clear, Maulath signals for Jack to begin running. Swords wide to the side cutting anyone in his path, Jack joins in the sprint to freedom. They run into the woods, only stopping when they reach a small clearing and set up camp. After roughly 5 minutes of silence, Maulath turns to Jack and thanks him. While stuffing his face with bread Jack replies with, "You know my name, what's yours?" After a brief moment of silence, Maulath speaks up and answers "Maulath.” "Maulath. Interesting name you got there hammer boy. How long were you held captive with us?" Blankly staring into the fire, Maulath replies “About 2 years last week.” "Wowee... I'm sorry I didn't notice sooner man. Did he like, make you do anything?" he says as he passes Maulath the bread. Maulath takes the bread from him and responds “I was the ‘strong man’ act. Right before yours.” "Well I'll tell you what Maul: tomorrow we'll find a tavern and we'll get you some real big boy food, then we'll find out where we go next from there. As you can tell," Jack stands up and flamboyantly motions at himself, "I am officially a hobo so I'm open for suggestion! What do you say?" Taken aback for a moment by this new nickname, Maul lets out a laugh through his nose and replies, “Alright pretty boy but you’re buying.” "Will work for food," Jack snaps and points, "for now I imagine you're tired," he puts his hand to his mouth and does a muttered whisper, "'cause I sure as hell am. So until tomorrow, good night my new friend!", he instantly sits down crisscross on his bedroll and closes his eyes. Maul rolls his eyes and lays back in the grass and shuts his eyes.

Black and purple leather armor pants and boots that match Jack's. Carries his hammer on his back and axes at his sides. His whip is coiled and put on the back of his pants. He doesn't like too much bulk and carries what he needs to entertain and fight.
