Relics of Marus
Overview
On Marus there lies many ancient artifacts of its bygone age of sail. These tools were once used by the Kaelic Sailors during their colonization of the Realm of Seas in eons past. These Relics are made from precious metals and conduct magic in transformative displays of awe-inspiring power. They cannot be produced like Natural Treasures and their rarity ensures only a handful of individuals have a hope of finding them. They are now the mark of the world's most powerful magical practitioners; these Gifted have learned to integrate the power of these magical tools into their Veils to further their advancement toward the pinnacle of the Relic Arts.
No two Gifted will ever wield the same Relic in quite the same way. One Gifted on the Path of the Sweeping Dragon may absorb a Striker Rod to produce violent beams of destructive energy. While another Gifted on the Path of the Greentides, if given the same Relic, may use it to encourage the voracious growth of plant life. Always remember that a Relic will respond uniquely to a given Gifted and their Path to Power.
Mark of the Powerful
Relics are the mark of the truly powerful on Marus. Their masters are those destined to become the monarchs of islands, the rulers of nations, or even the overlords of entire seas. Where they go, civilization will inevitably follow. These powerful Gifted are a stabilizing presence and ensure the grip of the wilds will one day loosen over the islands they call home. When a beast has not risen to reign supreme as an Island Monarch, one can always be certain they will find a Gifted of at least Iron-Rank maintaining that equilibrium.
