Overview

Those walking a Path to Power in the Relic Arts are practioners known as Gifted. They possess a Veil like all Sophonts on Marus but have also begun to absorb the pure energies held within coveted Natural Treasures. As a Gifted absorbs these Primal Elements, they control their Veil to break down and refine that power thus expanding their understanding and fueling their magical advancement. A Gifted’s blood develops a series of metallic qualities as they advance that gives their rank its name and helps to denote their relative power amongst their peers.

Gifted Ranks & Advancement

Magic and life on Marus exist in a strict hierarchy of power, for those with power are kings in the Realm of Seas. All magic on Marus begins internally at the heart and travels within the blood. When a caster uses magic, their blood and veins glow with an internal light, giving off a metallic hue that helps to denote their rank to those who learn to recognize it.

A Gifted's Path begins when a Sophont reaches maturity, allowing them to absorb a Natural Treasure to gain the gifts of a Copper. A Gifted who then strengthens their Veil, toils to heighten their control over it, and explores the myriad Concepts tied to their absorbed Treasures will slowly advance through Tin and into Bronze. The foundation of a Path to Power is thus established as a Copper, expanded as they grow through Tin, and ultimately consolidated at the peak of Bronze into a cohesive whole. This unique Path can only be fully realized after a Gifted has successfully integrated three Natural Treasures into their Veil. After which they may seek out Marus' Relics to fuel with their Veil and use as tools to guide their further advancement into Iron, Steel , and Gold.
