Gifted
Overview
Those walking a Path to Power in the Relic Arts are practitioners known as the Gifted. They possess a Veil like all Sophonts on Marus but have also begun to strengthen and manipulate it. These Gifted consciously absorb the pure energies held within coveted Natural Treasures to gain access to expansive repertoires of magical abilities. As they use their Veils to break down and refine these Primal powers, they expand their understanding of the Realm's inner workings and the full-breadth of their own power. A Gifted’s blood develops a series of metallic qualities as they advance attributed to their rank and therefore their relative power amongst their peers.
Gifted Ranks & Advancement
The magic and life of Marus exist in strict hierarchies of power, for those with power are kings in the Realm of Seas. All magic wielded on Marus begins internally at the heart and travels within the blood. When a Gifted manipulates their Veil to cast magic they cause their blood and veins to glow with an internal light of a metallic hue. That color helps to denote their rank and relative strength to those who learn to recognize it.
A Gifted's journey begins when a Sophont reaches maturity, allowing them to absorb a Natural Treasures to gain the gifts of a Copper. The Gifted who strengthen their Veils, toil to heighten their control, and explore the myriad Concepts tied to their absorbed Treasures will slowly advance through Tin and into Bronze. The foundation of a Path to Power is thus established as a Copper, expanded as it grows through Tin, and ultimately consolidates at the peak of Bronze into a cohesive whole. Their unqiue Path is fully realized when its Gifted has successfully integrated three Natural Treasures into their Veil. After which they may seek out the Relics of Marus to empower and use as tools to guide their further advancement into Iron, Steel, and Gold.
