Session 49 Report

General Summary

After seeing Ariadne being arrested by the Falkovnian mercenaries and escorted by 4 of them out of their main station in front of the church, the Lanterns decide to follow them in the dark streets of Vor Ziyden. When an opportunity arises, the Lanterns ambush the mercenaries and before they can raise an alarm, Grimm casts a Silence spell around them. A tense few moments of "staring contests and sword-measuring" show the Lanterns that the mercenaries aren't up for a fight and they might be reasoned with. When the spell wears off, the Lanterns have a very good talk with the mercenaries' second in command, where he explains that they were taking Ariadne to the barracks, as she is supposed to be taken to the town's barons. The mercenaries don't know the reason, and they're only following orders, but they seem reasonable enough and eventually they get in an agreement: they'll take Ariadne back to the church, together with Grimm, explain the situation to Graffar, in the hopes that Ariadne Salvatore can do something for the sick people. But they have to take her to the barons the following morning. She has to do whatever she has to do, during this one night.
