Lawmage

Spellcasters in the Azorius Senate use their magic to compel or restrain malefactors and to protect their fellow guildmages and the citizens are referred to as Lawmages or Azorius Guildmages. Part of the Lyev Column, these mages can aspire to the rank of Justiciar and then Deputy as their career with the guild goes on.

Aside from the vertical ranks of Lawmage, Justiciar, and Deputy, there are lateral ranks that group together many different types of Lawmage.

• Precognitive Mages are a relatively new kind of Lawmage. They can use their law magic to detect the intent or desire to commit a crime thus being able to stop it before it occurs. In some cases they can even read the mind of a suspect and detect their actions just before they do them.
• Nullmages specialize in nullifying or canceling out an assailants rogue spells with their rigid law magic. Although they have some limitations, such as needing to witness the incantation or receive the wrath of the spell in order to counter it, they can completely shut down crucial spell casters of assailing groups.
• Hieromancers are mages that can use their law magic to project auras onto themselves, others, and the physical world. These auras might calm someones emotions, restrain a creature, protect a victim, force a liar to speak the truth, or compel a runaway to halt. The Senate tries to sprinkle these mages around in each squad, but a few special task forces exist comprised only of Hieromancers.
