Izzet Weird Causes Havoc at Augustine Station

The Ravnica World News - That's a FACT!

In a flurry of lightening and the force of typhoon, an Izzet Weird laid waste to the Augustine Airship Station in Precinct Two. Several people were severely injured, with one child hurled from the platform's highest area. It was only due to pure luck that a Boros legionnaire happened to be flying by on a Skyjek Roc, that the child was saved from becoming a stain on the ground below. It is truly amazing that no one was killed.   Through the combined efforts of Azorius lawmages, a couple more Boros meatheads and of course regular citizens like you and I, the enraged Elemental was finally brought under control after a lengthy battle. Notice I didn't mention the Izzet.   That's right, the creators of the weird, the creators of the airships, and designers of the platforms in Augustin Station were useless. Witnesses report seeing the few Izzet researchers at hand standing there too stunned to do anything but babble, "It shouldn't be doing that." NO KIDDING! Another witness saw an Izzet taking notes while hiding, instead of actually trying to stop it. When confronted the researcher whimpered, "The command code wasn't working. I had to document its inconstant behavior." How about you use that huge apparatus on your back to do something useful.   In addition to the lives of children being endangered, this insane creature caused some serious damage to the station and several airships as well. It will take time and money to get those platforms back up in running. This means regular citizens will be forced to pay the price in time and gold because the Izzet can't stop using unstable elementals to help them. Weirds are used instead of hiring citizens who need work. Just because they won't join a guild doesn't mean they can't be useful. The Izzet value intellect and creativity over a strong work ethic. They'll hire morons who will take notes while lives are put in danger.   People demanded answers and someone to step forward and accept responsibility for what happened. The other guilds took notice. Now the Izzet, who are already on the naughty list of the Boros, because of the prisoner transfer incicent also have the Azorius and Orzhov asking for a full investigation of the calamity at Augustin Station.   One insider source spoke to us anonymously, about their theory of the Izzet issue. "To me it is clear that Board Member and Director Gertrudt Airheart is out of her depth. These incidents have been going on for a while now, ever since she took over Laboritory of Plasma Dermatology. I can't deny her genius and skill at politicking. But lets look at facts. She has two massive labs under her supervision, both with vastly different goals. She is a personal advisor to the Guild Master, and she is on the Board. Something has to give, and we are seeing the cracks. It is unfortunate that Director Airheart is too stubborn to see that she is stretched thin. I'm afraid some unfortunate bistander will have to die before real action is taken. The Board is starting to realize that Airheart's arrogance is costing them. They need to hold her accountable and ask for her resignation, and they must do it before some poor child does end up dead in front of a guild laboratory."   Strong words from a Izzet League insider, and ones that resonate. If Director Airheart's negligence is to blame, then action should be taken. And if the Izzet value their autonomy they better do it quickly before the Azorius, Boros and Orzhov (who are going to lose a lot of money from this latest incident) decide that enough is enough and take punitive actions of their own.   Where that will leave us normal folk of the Tenth District is anyone guess. All we know for sure is that commuting will get more costly and even life threatening.
