The Faintly Family Cookbook

Purpose

The cookbook was compiled by Fausta Faintly before her death in an attempt to make sure all the centuries of recipes passed down through her family would survive far into the future. In an unforeseen twist, the book was copied and passed around. Now the book is a staple in every home in and around Mirefield.

Publication Status

The original copy of the recipe book has been passed down in the Faintly family, while copies exist in almost every house in the Mirefield Lordship.

Historical Details

Background

The reason the book ended up being copied and passed around was due to the recipes themselves. Mirefield, a village situated on the side of a mountain, has a difficult time obtaining food and the meat tends to be tough. The recipes are highly regarded due to their ability to make the sparse food and tough meat taste delicious.

Goat Stew

Ingredients

• goat meat
• potatoes
• carrots
• mushrooms
• oil
• flour
• onions
• spices
• water

Instructions

1. Cut meat into cubes
2. Roll cubes in flour
3. Oil, spices, and meat into pot
4. Cook meat until browned
5. Put meat and spices into pot over fire
6. Add water, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and potatoes
7. Cook vegetables until soft

(Note that this can be made replacing the vegetables listed with other vegetables or leaving them out depending on scarcity at the time of cooking.)
