City of the Cahoikans

The Cahoikans of today live in various places of Realm-R, though they used to live in a single place, before the Piasa was buried. A very small group still live there today, covering their original buildings and mounds in vines to create a ruin-like existance of their initial home.

Architecture

Much like their ancestors from Earth, the people of Cahoika started their city with a structured plan. They created large mounds from the soil to build their huts and town buildings on.
The city was built larger than the initial population of Cahoikans needed, but over time the population grew into the town's size. Almost - the city was not made to be expanded upon, and there was still room for the population to grow before the Piasa escaped their imprisonment and had to be buried because of it. Due to their failure, the people left the city, fearing retibution from the divine being that brought them there.
The mounds were made from the soil of Realm-R and Stone Vine ore. The huts and buildings were made from the sturdiest of the Shadow Trees in the Forest (the wood being closer to stone than the wood of Earth), as well as stone vine. Inside, walls were covered in monster pelts and other Forest materials.
After the burial of the Piasa, the group who stayed in the city have been expanding the vines of the stone vine and tree stone vine to cover the buildings and mounds. Daylilies and related vine-type plants have also been propogated throughout the city.

Natural Resources

After the Piasa was buried underneath the largest mound in the city, an insect was born that had been endangered. This insect creates a nano-material that dispereses in the air of Realm-R, allowing the hologram communication via a Traveller's armband to work. Thus, the divine beings asked the Cahoikans to leave the city and keep it as refuge for the insects to inhabit and unendanger themselves. Although this is the reason why the Cahoikans initially left, the failure they felt at having to bury their dragon prisoner and then leave their home city was enough to make them not want to create a new city for them to inhabit.
The insects were endangered as when they are in eggs, the eggs look a lot like a pile of blue berries. So they got eaten by other monsters and people of Realm-R. (Though the people of Realm-R didn't mean to eat them, only eating them thinking they were berries, and would stay away after crunching the inside of the soft eggs. Still not knowing what they were until after burying the Piasa though.)

I cannot tell you how much I love that sketch. The Piasa with its cartoon dead face is cracking me up.

From The River to The Ocean, a civilization grows up.
