Abscayda

Abscayda (known as Epimach to the Great Alteans) is de jure a member state of the Holy Gilder Empire but is de facto naturalized Neviran land. The province has changed hands several times over the centuries, claimed by Cintenia, Ebendia and Totewald, with direct immediacy to Emperor Marcel I Chasteuila-Totekinder during his reign.   The province was first conquered by an external power when the forces of Queen Charel XIV Chasteuila of Nevira took the territory in 320 R.D during her conquests of the northern realms. Her daughter transferred the lands back to the Holy Gilder Empire in 350 R.D. upon the election of Charel II Chasteuila as Empress. The territory was conquered for a second time in 460 R.D. by the forces of Zoila Lagnenne during the Neviran Wars of Succession. It was conquered for a third time by the forces of Grand Duke Bernd II Chasteuila-Totekinder during the Neviran Heresies, to liberate it from the neglectful rule of Zoila IV Lagnenne, in 543 R.D. It was conquered for a fourth time in 598 R.D. during the Irdan Wars. It was conquered for the fifth and final time by the forces of Almeda Zuria during the Liberation of Nevira in 665 R.D. The warrior queen reached an agreement with Empress Gracia Alven, who had supported Almeda's efforts to liberate Nevira, wherein the rulers of Abscayda would owe fealty to both Gilder and Nevira, holding separate titles within each system.
