Cathlan

The Imperial Core (Altane Cathlan; Cathlan Xiatan Chuanting; Kanchan Utara; Vuscovi Čjaanta), known commonly in the Gloaming North as the Cathlan Empire, is a great power of The Eternal East and, after the recent collapse of the ancient Sublime Jailong, the eldest extant nation of the Realms of the Sleeper. Born from the nucleus of the collapsed Xuan as its foremost child, after a golden millenia the Empire has entered its middle age, with its Emperor now highly removed from direct rule and replaced by a labyrinth of cultivators and bureaucrats, and its vast borders beset on every corner by war.
Counting its vassals as Cathlan territory, the Empire is bordered by Jaraxes to the northwest, Kancha La to the southeast, Padmathara and Gomparang to the south, and the Hadrad steppe and Hoqai to the west. Taking the Imperial claim of the Batai Desert (Swallowing Sands) into account, Cathlan also borders the Free Counties to the southwest.
