Grimlock (Solaran)
The grimlock on Toril were varied in nature, and the grimlock of Solara were similar physically to them. They remain below the surface of the land, and the party encountered them deep below in the tunnelscape beneath the mountains.
Physical Atrributes
The grimlock of Solara do not possess any eyes. Instead, the creatures sense their environment through their enlarged ears, enhanced olfactory senses, and highly developed sense of touch. In fact, the grimlocks constantly produce a clicking sound inaudible to most normal humanoid hearing that acts as echolocation. In combination with their other heightened senses, grimlocks are able to "visualize" their environment to a distance of 90 feet. Thus, the grimlock can detect invisible objects. These creatures sometimes ease their sonar clicking and concentrate on their other remarkable senses in order to sneak up on prey or enemy grimlocks.Culture
Common Myths and Legends
The grimlocks often tell the tale of a god from another world known only as Arack and his quest to slay the Unredeemed Beast. Members of two separate packs -- the Gyor and Hiao -- followed Arack and his companions that they had never breached before by any pack. Bypassing strange wonders (that they later named the Pools of Vigor), Arack brough his power to bear and he decended even deeper into the darkness to battle the Unredeemed Beast and find a holy artifact.
The two packs waited for Arack a the lip of a chasm, but he never returned. Lest the Unredeemed Beast rise in anger after Arack's intrusion, one member of each pack was sealed within the chamber. The grimlocks then revered the site as a holy place. Visiting over innumerable years.
