Session 12 Recap - But did you die?

We last saw our heroes fighting it out with a construct of unimaginable power. This being appeared to have a mastery of necrotic magic, wielding powerful spells that tore into their souls. Very few words were exchanged with the creature, but it became clear it could understand the common tongue. After it was slain, a strange magical object in the shape of the arcane symbol for necromancy was left behind. This object pulsed with Abjuration magic, but even after an Identify spell was cast, the object's purpose remains unknown.
The creature appeared to be building some sort of device with strange mechanical arms surrounded by glass. T'larn hypothesized that this was some sort of containment unit for the dead long past...a prison for souls. Our heroes quickly destroyed the device and grabbed the symbol for necromancy before leaving the wretched lair.
The Library of Wonders
To make good on a promise, the party ventured further north in hopes to find their friend Anvil whom they had freed from the clutches of the Orkenforge. Anvil was looking for an artifact known as the Eye of Gond which our heroes had plucked from a strange tomb in the Mournlands. In exchange for the Eye, Anvil promised to help them find the "Heart of Valtorum".
While moving north, they found the Orkenforge encampment to be much larger than originally thought and it showed signs of a quick retreat. That is when they spotted a connection to a river that appeared to run through all of Valtorum. Hoping to find Anvil, the party unfolded their boat and pushed against the current only to find a massive temple.
In hopes that Anvil is somewhere inside, they approached the entrance to the temple only to be attacked by vicious Modron. The constructs appeared to be hiding in Ambush, rather poorly, which sparked a debate amongst our heroes whether this was the correct location or not. They pushed forward regardless only to find a crumbling waste of stonework littered with traps.     Will our heroes be able to push through the temple and find Anvil? What terrible secrets were buried beneath the surface of Valtorum? Find out next time on...
