Basic Information
Anatomy
Bleeding Broadleaf plants are a medium sized leafy plant growing from bulbs with yellow green heart shaped leaves tipped with red. Typically, these plants are between 1 and 4 feet tall, growing from 3-8 bulbs in a cluster.
Biological Traits
These plants are well known for their fluids being a treatment for indigestion, stomach cramps, and as a mild pain relief. The leaves are also commonly said to taste like red lettuce.
Genetics and Reproduction
These plants reproduce both asexually through cloning and bulbs, and sexually through pollen. They are easy to cultivate in captivity.
Ecology and Habitats
The Bleeding Broadleaf is found in warm, moist environments that are heavy in shade, typically growing under larger plants such as trees, bushes, or Dragonsbane along rivers, ponds, or lakes.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Due to being so commonly used for its medicinal use, it's believed that this plant evolved to look similarly to Dragonsbane, an incredibly toxic plant, to prevent being eaten by dragonkin. It still remains commonly used to this day, and is also a not entirely uncommon addition to salads or sandwiches.
It is widely cultivated for medicinal use and one of the most well understood plants by dragons. Even by non-dragonkin, the plant is often used for garnishing food.
